It wil go down as one of, if not the greatest and most significant Bama win ever for a few reasons.

1. With the win, Saban inserts himself as the greatest coach of all time.

2. Bama is now the greatest program of all time with this 16th title.

3. Bama faced the toughest opponent its ever tangled with and THE ultimate form of a spread team. We beat a spread team at its best.

4. The game was one of the best ever. It wil be viewed in the same light as the USC/Texas. An instant classic.

5. And finally, this win signals the renewal of the Bama dynasty. Saban can easily win 2 more titles or whoever takes his place will have a loaded cabinet.

1. He has a case now. His national titles overshadow Coach Bryant's six because titles now are harder to come by, but the SEC championships are still WAY slanted to Coach Bryant.
2. Already were.
3. Toughest opponent of the BCS/Playoff era. Not sure about all time.
4. It was certainly a great game. Hard to beat the goalline stand though.
5. Okay.

Weird how strong Clemson became. Going into the game they were as weak as Notre dame in 2012

The Notre Dame comparison was a very minority opinion--like one person said that.

No one ever said that on the Bama side.

It was a huge one but Bama has had many huge games throughout their history. Have to agree 1992 was probably bigger since it was the 1st title since "The Bear". Plus, Bama was such a underdog in that game.

Now, that was one of the more exciting title games Bama has played. Clemson and Watson will continue to show their worth and time will validate this Bama win too. This game reminded me of Bama's coming out party during the 2008 SEC Title game. Everyone wasn't 100% sure if Bama was for real or not until they stood toe-to-toe with the Gators. If Clemson stays hungry, they'll be in the title mix yearly.

While I believe the game was the most entertaining NC game since USC/Texas, I disagree that it will be held in the same light. Texas came back from 12 down in 6 minutes using a miraculous performance from Vince Young and a seemingly impossible 4th down stop by the Texas defense. Watching that game, you couldn't believe what was happening.

Miami was heavily favored - and lost.

That game also showed that Alabama could win the MNC without Bryant.

Oh yeah, and Miami lost.

SEC championships were a lot easier to come by in Bryant's era as well. And not just because the SEC overall was far weaker back then.

Saban would have two more SEC championships under the Bryant-era rules (2008 outright, 2013 co-champs with AU and Mizzou), giving him 6 over the past 8 seasons. While he likely wouldn't have the 2011 Mulligan NC, he almost certainly would have had another in '08.

Bryant was able to pad his SEC championship numbers thanks to weaker opposition, greater numerical talent advantages, and the fact that he was there forever. It's not a knock against Bryant, but he's now the 2nd best HC y'all have ever had.
