He started that about midway into this season. Nothing has ever been mentioned about it but I've noticed a few guys this year in college and mlb wearing that this season.
It gives support for base stealers to not jam their wrists or have their lead hand spiked.

Gotcha. It makes sense, I just haven't seen anyone where one except for him, but I don't watch too much of the MLB until October.
