Great sport. I used to go on campus and watch Alabama wrestle when it was an SEC sport....I hate they stopped it.

Respect. I wrestled in junior high and high school in Illinois. It was one sport you were guaranteed to only have to compete against someone your own size. And since I only weighed 98 pounds as a freshman that was a very important point.

My school went to their team camp every year. I went in 2007 and 2008.

that would be impressive if there was more than five teams in the country.

I believe there are around 80 D1 programs.

frick wrestling, I want SEC lacrosse. Pit the upper crust of each state against one another in something other than facilities arms races.

When I was in high school, I decided I wanted to be something more than an average high school athlete and set my sights on a prize that many didnt think i can win, beating Shute - the best wrestler in the state. I had to lose a crazy amount of weight to get to his weight class. I then set out to reach his goal alone, without much support from my father or coach. My father rented a room to a young drifter, Carla. I fell in love with her and she helped me stay focused and prevent me from losing sight of my goals.

Not a bad idea. Beating each other with sticks does have an allure.
