Coming on the heels of Georgia’s announcement that Mark Richt wouldn’t return as head coach in 2016, a source tells 247Sports that current Houston head coach Tom Herman would be highly interested in the opening in Athens.
The 40-year-old Herman is regarded as the hottest up-and-coming coaching candidate in college football. He spent three seasons as Ohio State’s offensive coordinator — winning a national title in his final year with a third-stringer in Cardale Jones — prior to landing the head job at Houston last offseason. While with the Buckeyes, one of Herman’s primary recruiting territories was the Atlanta metro-area, which could help him if he were to be hired by Georgia.
Herman has been linked to the opening at South Carolina, but reports say he’s withdrawn his interest. Industry sources believe he’d be content waiting at Houston for something to open at Texas or Texas A&M (Herman played college in Texas and GA’d with the Longhorns), but an offer from Georgia would be enticing for Herman to turn down.
According to the 247Sports Team Talent Composite, the Bulldogs have the seventh-best roster in college football, based on recruiting history.

Yea sources said Miles was already fired and Herman was a shoo in at South Carolina
Herman's hire won't come with speculation. It will be announced and that will be it.
Smoke Smoke and more Smoke

South Carolina is a shitty job that was propped up by Spurrier no one in their right mind would walk into especially with a walk on grocery bagger as the starting QB. Mack Rhoades hired him at Houston so if you would take your blinders off for just a fricking quick second you would realized there is a prior connection. South Carolina will better hurry up and finalize an offer for that idiot interim and just call it good

Lol if this was why he turned us down you can have him. Did he expect media not to speculate?
or it was because his agent advised him there would be better "hooks in the water" very soon..

Welp, ol Blue October shite on himself again. Gregg Marshall was never coming and Herman never thought of coming.

@GuyNamedJason: Report out, no major source yet, that Tom Herman has accepted the Georgia job...which means this was calculated and planned for a bit.

Probably changed his mind because of talks with Georgia. It is what it is. Georgia is a better job than both Mizzou and Souh Carolina.
Kirby Smart it is.

Rhule at Mizzou probably if this is true.
I really don't think they would announce this before the AAC Championship game.
I'm calling bullshite at the moment until someone with some real creds says otherwise.

you'ed be crazy to turn down UGA for USC and only a complete retard would take the Mizzou job over UGA just because the MU AD was their former boss...
the fact that Herman worked for Rhoades was probably THE ONLY reason why he gave a "courtesy" interview, to which he already knew the answer (no thanks), along with the fact it helped him leverage a raise if he stayed put.

Mizzou is arguably the 3rd or 4th best job available right now.
I'll give you USC and UGA. USCe and Mizzou are very similar. Miami is a close 5th.
Thinking otherwise makes you another dumbass

you're so mad
He really is...
bc Mizzou is a fricking shite show with a very low glass ceiling that has already been reached and Georgia is a MUCH better and more appealing job than the shite show that Pinkel propped up for those dumbfricks at Mizzou.
See how this works, Blue?
