Yeah his two years coaching for TCU will kick off a pipeline of Texas talent to Mizzou

We had a pipeline to Texas before we moved to the SEC.

Exactly. A renewed focus in Texas should pay dividends for us for sure. We got some really great players out of there in the Big 12 days.

TCU was built on its defense in the past before Coach P changed his offense. And his 4-2-5 Defense was good enough scheme wise to have BB and a number of other coaches come down for a visit with him.

This is a good hire for Mizzou imo.

Since most of you have no clue about TCU, let me give you a primer.

Gary Patterson was the defensive coordinator at TCU under Fran. When Fran went to Alabama, no one wanted the job, so they promoted Patterson to HC. He is the guy responsible for getting Fran to Alabama.

He hired great offensive coordinators and told them to score points and he would shut the other guys down.
Patterson has always ran the TCU defense and defensive coordinators have their names on their office doors with Velco. They do what Patterson tells them to do. When they get tired of being puppets, they move on usually to the insurance business. This latest guy has only been in Texas for two years. He saw a shot to get back to his native Missouri and he took it. I don't blame him. I wish him luck as a DC.

If you think he has a direct line to recruiting football players in Texas, you really don't understand Texas football. Missouri did recruit fairly well in Texas when they were in the BDF because the players could play at least four times in their home state. Now they are in the SEC they get sloppy 11ths behind (and in no particular order) A&M, Arkansas, Alabama, LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Houston, Baylor, TCU & perhaps texas university.

Nebraska lost their Texas connections when they went to the Big 10. Texas players do not want to play in the cold.

Best of luck to him but let's not get too excited.

Nothing to suggest thy Mizzou can't pull highly ranked players out of Texas. In most years we won't get many guys that UT, OU or aTm want but outside of that there is no reason Mizzou won't be competitive with other schools recruiting the area.

And let's be honest, UT is reeling and aTm might not be far behind. Neither are knocking it out of the park in state in this cycle.

a bit more on the guy here ...

been coaching DL for a long time it appears and has worked at Oklahoma(OU) and Georgia(UGA),, interesting and sounds promising.

also his kid is a TE for USC so next question is does he transfer to Mizzou, who will by all accounts be recruiting the TE position harder than ever.
