You don't understand Mizzou. Thats ok. Mizzou had not one rivalry but two. You had the kansas rivalry and the illini rivalry. Each one is not understood by the other. Being from KCMO, the illini rivalry was not as big. The Lou side looks at it the other way around. They don't live here we don't live there. I hated kansas before I was into Mizzou sports. So, I still hate kansas whether or not we play those redlegged bastards from lowrents ks. They're so but hurt we left them behind, they won't play us in any sport. So that said, I just don't care if we do either.

A lot of misconceptions about Missouri can be cleared up by simply watching The Outlaw Josey Wales.

It was completely wrong. One of the best things about leaving the Big 12 was giving those fricks the middle finger in the rearview mirror on our way out.
If the OP had asked about the Big 8, he'd have gotten a different answer, but the Big 8 ended a long time ago.

I agree with a few other Mizzou posters about missing the game with the nubbers. Things were starting to heat up between Mizzou and Nebraska when we both bolted. I would love to see that game at Arrowhead every year.

I miss the Big 12/Big 8. kU is irreplaceable. That kind of hatred from blood spilt doesn't just "go away." The sports series may have started in the early 1900's but the civil war was long before that. My hometown was burned to the ground by jayhawkers, just before Quantrill led his raiders.
As for my affinity for the Big 12: I could go to multiple away games...giving me an appreciation for the other schools in the conference. 4 of the 5 Big 12 North opponents were under 5 hours away, easily drivable.
The history. Imagine if Auburn just left for the ACC, and didn't schedule Bama. They just wouldn't fit. Missouri just doesn't have the same history and cultural identity as the rest of the SEC. Anyone who says we fit outside sports is either a blowhard, or an idiot.
Traditions. The Telephone trophy with Iowa state, peace pipe with oklahoma, victory bell with nebraska. We just don't have any sort of secondary rivalry that gives us that extra flavor. Our "Arkansas Rivalry" is corporate driven...and we don't really have anything other than that.
Don't take this as me bashing the SEC, I just don't think we fit. The move was hyped up and led people to believe that it was a "culture thing", or "better quality." In truth, it was all about money. The spirit of college sports wasn't supposed to ever be about the money. It was supposed to be about university, state, and regional pride. Instead, we made it about money, justifying the move by lying to ourselves.

kU is a lot different for some of our fans. Especially those on the west side. Me, I actually don't care. Not this "I don't care" facade, but I actually don't. It's just not a big deal to me. I miss playing Nebraska more tbh.
Road trips to Ames and Manhatten? You can keep em. I'll live with Lexington and Nashville.
Of course, I'm much more of a football guy so the SEC is perfect for me.

Not the best towns obviously. But I also meant to include that all the Big 12 North schools hub is KC. Thats where the Big 12 tournament was held some years. It's easy to see why STL people like the SEC.
Just furthers the point the Missouri as a state is very divided in opinion. KC vs STL, West vs East.
Reallignment killed Rivalries.
Check the table about halfway down.

I could see why KC Tigers would feel that way. I'm from STL though and the move has been fantastic for me.

No.

Any rivalry games
kU, but right now it would be lopsided in both football and basketball anyway.

away game road trips you wish you could go see every couple of years?
No. Austin and Boulder were really the only worthwhile trips.

Absolutely not!
We should have never gone to the XII to begin with. It was a bad marriage for TAMU.
I wish, however, that we played tu annually on Thanksgiving. There are plenty of SEC teams that play their in state OOC rival on rivalry week and it would fit right in. Other than that, if we never played Baylor or Tech again in my lifetime it will be too soon. And we had little or no history with any of the old Big 8 schools prior to the formation of the XII.
