Sure sounds like he would be willing to come home. Having a ring and Labron's phone number on his cell won't hurt recruiting.

Mack Rhoades are you listening? Let's get serious!

“I’ve been in the NBA for so long, man, but I think about that quite often,” he said. “I do think at some point I’d like to give college a try. When Missouri was going through a coaching change (in 1999) — this is way back when I was still with the Lakers — they reached out to me. But I didn’t feel a seriousness about it. I felt it was more of a courtesy.

“I just kind of feel at some point I may want to give college a try once I’m done with the NBA. If it’s in the future and I get that opportunity, I’d certainly look into it.”

Larry needs to check his "feels" meter at the door; a door he may permanently closed himself.

He's damn near 60

We need a younger coach to dig in for a long rebuild.

A coach coming from the pros to college or vice versa is a crapshoot. The level of maturity for college players is so different from pros that many coaches are put off by one or the other.

Billy Donovan is one of the few who have successfully made the transition from college to the pros and been successful there, too. I can't think of anyone who has done the reverse.

Good luck. We need a strong Mizzou in basketball in the SEC.

Unless Larry has finished his degree, he doesn't meet the pre-reqs to be hired

I'm inclined to agree with this. I'm not sure Mizzou is in a quick fix situation where a hired gun comes in and has the team at an elite level in a season or two.

Plenty of talent in state though. A good recruiter who can develop young players could build a fairly nasty team in a couple of seasons.

Seems like a crap shoot. I'd stick with Kim long enough to get the program stable and get feedback from legitimate candidates.

I love how every time the Larry Drew thing comes up, this point is made and no one--never, not ever--pays attention.

"Do you think we should ice skate today on the pond today??"

"It's 90 degrees."

"Yeah, let's do it!"

"Dumbass. Skating is for losers!"

"Whatever. Keep drinking the Kool-Aid. Definitely should hit the ice!"

"But guys, the water melted months ago. I think the pond is dry."

"OK, see y'all there!"

It's being argued on the PD sight to much the same effect. Scotch and Rantz are arguing that it is MU's fault that Drew hasn't completed the required work to be eligible for the job even thought he has had 36 years to do it.

Just give the guy an honorary and be done with it.

Now, what that really that hard?

It doesn't work like that and for good reason.
