Excited doesn't begin to explain it. Been wanting this for years...
Very fond memories of going to see A&M at LSU and at Arkansas as a kid.
Have my Bama & Auburn tickets and look forward to traveling... Proud to be a part of the SEC.

Hasn't sunk in--probly won't till 9/8. So damn excited to start this season! All flaming and ribbing aside, it just feels damn good to be here. On some level I think I'm still expecting to wake up and see A&M traveling to Waco to play baylor or some shite like that

I'm very pleased to be making the move, but, for A&M fans that have been around a while, this isn't our first rodeo, we've done the conference change thing before. The strangeness and adjustment won't be quite as jarring. The Big XII was a step up from the SWC, and the SEC is a step up from the Big XII, so there are going to be a lot of similarities. The main difference this time around is the lack of familiar faces going with us--just Missouri.
I remember being excited about trips to Norman (although we had played up there in '93, so it wasn't totally new) and Lincoln, and interested in seeing the other school. This time, I'd say that I'm skewing towards excited, as opposed to interested, for more venues.
As a result of having done a major conference change before, I would imagine that this is much more of a strange sensation for Missouri fans than it is for A&M fans.

For any visiting fans coming to Kyle, here is the veiw from the visiting section (149) on the first deck (worse visitor seats ever).
Here is the view from the top of the Zone in the corner (these are old pics. The video board is larger)
and the middle of the zone
If you want to see what your view will be like if you have seats in other sections:

Replace the "xxx" with the section number

The excitement is through the roof. One of my favorite parts has been some former smack talking tsips I know quietly asking, "Uh, so do you think you might have any extra tickets for the Florida or LSU games?"
The thing about the Big 12 is the quality of football was actually very good, the quality of the league though was garbage. It wasn't SEC level but close if looked in total, the problem was you had lots of games that were tough but no one cared about. For instance playing in Manhattan against a JUCO filled KSU team was rough but nobody cares about KSU. Everything is reactionary in terms of how the league office worked as well. The quality of the broadcasts sucked. Most of the stadiums were crap along with the gameday atmospheres. It just felt half arse.
By contrast everything from the SEC has been first rate and highly professional. They don't measure themselves against other conferences, they set the trend. Every school has personality and atmosphere (outside of maybe Vandy but at least they are in Nashville). Every broadcast is top notch by comparison and there are always multiple league games on TV (and that was without a Texas team even in the league). The SEC is simply treated differently than every other league and for good reason, they just take excellence seriously.
Most of all though, the fit is just perfect. Every SEC school is fanatical about their school and football. They take things way too seriously just like A&M does. Each school brings something to the table but they also have a lot in common.
I can't wait for the Sept 8 weekend. They have a big concert at Kyle the night before leading in to Midnight Yell. Gameday has all but said they will be there, esp if we can take care of business with La Tech next week. Then the game is just going to be nuts. The great thing though is it just keeps going. Arkie and LSU will be awesome. I'm taking a road trip to Bama and maybe to one of the Mississippi schools, really wish I could pull off Auburn but can't do it this year. Then at the same time I get to live here in Austin and watch the sips try to act like Purple Baylor is an "upgrade" and laugh as they have their first 2 games on LHN where no one can see them (got an email yesterday for my kids' Flag League offering 50% off tickets to their first 2 games as they can't get anyone to go).
I'm realistic about expectations but I also think A&M has got a lot of talent and could really surprise some folks this year. These guys really want to prove they belong and they are ready to step up. May still take a year or two but the future is going to be fun. I can't wait to go to USC every other year as my Mom's family is all from South Carolina for instance. The future is bright!

Living in BHam area, it is a dream come true that we have joined the SEC. There are so many unknowns. We will likely struggle for some time, but once Sumlin's system is in effect we will probably be a force to be reckoned with. I do dread the flak we will take with losses, especially early on. There is nothing more the Big 12 remaining schools want than to see us fail.

I'll agree with pretty much everything you said here. Especially the line about ksu. They were never a cakewalk by any means (minus Ron prince years), but at the same time if you lost to them you were just pissed bc you felt like you lost to a lesser school. On top of the fact that a trip to manhattan, ks was awful.
Either way I'm mighty excited to be in our new home and can't wait for kickoff!

No it has not. It will not be real till UGA shows up in COMO Sept 8th. Can't friggin wait! I can't wait for a game at good ol' rocky top.
I can't wait till we get to play in the swamp. I used to love watching FSU go in there and I always thought that was the most insane place to play. Then I watched LSU play a home game at night. I have follewed MU to NEB for a game and that was a pretty intense atmosphere but I have a feeling LSU at night makes that place looks like a HS pep rally. We will take our lumps this year but I think we will hand out some lumps to those who look past us.

I go from this feeling to the feeling we'll fall on our face!
That said, I've enjoyed the SEC forever and really wanted to make the jump when the pigs did. Just a great conference with the best people in the world. We toured the SEC one spring break (20-plus years ago) and the schools and stadiums were just awesome.
I think it was a very smart move for both schools and a win-win-win. In all seriousness, we moved to a much better neighborhood and we're going to have to adjust to compete at a high level.
Seriously, if OU was in the SEC, they'd be the sixth best team in the league. That's about all you need to know to understand just how tough the SEC is. I know most Aggies get that and respect it.

It will sink in Sept. 8th when I see things like Florida fans on our campus, the SEC logo on Kyle Field, etc. Although seeing the conference logo on our unis next Thursday will be cool

It will sink in as we're curb stomping Florida on the 8th.

I'm excited for my many Aggie friends. They are more pumped than I've seen them in years.
Good luck to you newbies(except against the Hogs of course.)

As many ups and downs as A&M has had lately, one thing is constant. Haven't beaten an SEC team in forever. That tells you about the quality of the football in this league. But I love our new offense, and the amount of talent we have there.
Glad for Sumlin, because lighting up the scoreboard like a pinball machine is our only chance. Haven't seen the WC in decades.
But A&M has always fit the SEC. Just need a few years to establish defensive depth to be competitive. Think Sumlin just may be the man to get us back to greatness. In the meantime, could be a rough year if injuries happen in the DL.
