Still not officially announced I don't believe, but the wheels are turning behind the scenes to build adjacent to MSU's campus with MSU oversight...

I agree. Mullen would NEVER go for the Florida job.
1. he has a bad relationship with Foley
2. Job security at MSU

What bad relationship? Link?

Yet another thread about UF and Mullen not started by UF fans. Most of us don't want him. This is getting ridiculous. Why do some of you fear Mullen staying at MSU and keep trying to pawn him off on us?

I remember Florida fans acting like they didn't want Mullen and now they are all freaking out & whining because he doesn't want them. Karma baby!!! Mullen ain't going no where. State is gonna be good for a while.

And the majority of Gator fans still don't want him. To date he has never been asked to return and I don't think that is going to change anytime soon.

Mississippi State and Ole Miss can't sustain this success. Everyone knows it. We aren't being haters, it's just the truth. You're the poorest state in the nation, the least populous (I think?) state in the conference, and you're surrounded by Alabama, LSU, and Auburn (not to mention Florida, Georgia, and Texas A&M when you move further away). All of these schools can recruit well and are in relatively talent-rich states. The two MS teams cannot be sustained by MS talent and will be left to pick up the scraps left behind by the rest. Occasionally you'll find a Dak or an Eli, but it isn't the norm.

Why can't Ole Miss? The only reason we wouldn't be able to is because of recruiting and that is far from an issue with Freeze.

In the age of the Big 5 conferences and the playoff, I don't see Florida being that much of a better job than MSU. Sure, the Florida job has more cachet but it's not an infinitely better job than MSU.

agree 100 percent. I had a state fan seriously look me in the eye the other day and ask "Where would you rather live, Starkville ms or Gainsville FL" lol

I'd take Starkville any day. Gainsville Fla is a dismal shithole.

The OP needs to stick to topics that he can speak intelligently about. To say that the Florida job is better job is one thing, but to say it's better for Dan is entirely different. Florida would likely be a more attractive job for a coach that's never been to State or spent any time in Mississippi. There is nothing learned or gained, only the same negative perception just like you get here...people that have either never been to MSU, or haven't been recently. We know the truth.

There is also something else to consider, Florida could be a potential career setback for Mullen if he wasn't winning big within 3 years, and I'm not convinced it would happen that fast, or if it would even be sustained success, if it did. It's harder to win anywhere nowadays.

Would Dan be able to get the right players that would be willing to work?

Would he be able to get the right coaches?

Would he have to deal with a lot of prim donna recruit issues that can sometimes cause a lot of inside turmoil for elite programs?

Would the fans like his recruiting methods? Dan doesn't get star struck, in fact, he doesn't give a flip about stars. He bases most of his emphasis on how well guys perform in front of his own eyes. If a 2 star outperforms a 4 star at camp, guess what?..the 2 star gets the offer and then fans flip out about it when their recruiting ranking drops. It took our fans a while to understand what was going on here. After 5+ years no one is complaining anymore.

There are many things to consider and that's assuming that Dan and Megan would even entertain the idea of going back to Gainesville for the SAME amount of money Dan would get at State. Because State isn't losing Dan over salary and Dan is already a multi millionaire anyway. Believe it or not, he feels very fortunate to be in his position.

Sorry, it's not happening.

Mullen would have to weigh which is worse. Cowbells and overblown expectations for the next 10 years or the chomp and overblown expectations for the next 10 years.

Florida is a way better job than MSU and that is not even debatable.

These idiots seem to think Dan Mullen wouldn't even be tempted to leave for the Florida job. Thoughts?

My cousin and her husband live in Starkville "say they go to church" with the Mullins and that the wifey loves it there and has his balls in a vice. My cousin's husband though say he expects him to leave unless they make the playoffs.

Demographics are/is destiny.

Florida is a talent rich state with more people.

MSU has a great team this year and I think Mullen has done a great job building the program, but there are built in advantages at Florida including:

1. Talent base

2. Revenue

3. Perception (it is reality)

You don't make any sense. How is having that kind of recruiting success leading to overblown expectations? We didn't fire a coach that went 4-8. I'd say that's pretty patient.

UF fans don't expect to win the SEC yearly. We expect to be in the running most years though with all the advantages we have. That's hardly overblown.
