I'd much rather listen to Acadian French-influenced English and Cajun slang terms than
the MFing damn cowbells that those people in Starkville keep clanging right behind you if you involuntarily move your head one centimeter off center in response to an unexpected CLANG right behind your unsuspecting head.

And please don't tell me northern Mississippi accents are the heighth of cosmopolitan civility.
(Although one of my best friends is an Ole Miss alumnus who lives in North Jacksson - looking forward to going to a game in Oxford).

I didn't much like our trip to Starkville last fall. Even though my cousin's son just graduated from Miss State and is just starting out as an engineer in - you guessed it - Lafayette!

Local sports radio is now trying to be like national sports radio. Controversial just to get listeners.

It's a shame really.

Naming villages on the coast isn't helping your case. Bay Saint Louis is pretty (my family has 2 "beach houses" down there) but there isn't enough to do to actually stay for more than a week.

Does Lafayette have beaches?

Not really. Then again, we don't have dog turds mixed up in sand.

No. Unless you count all of the festivals, art walks, symphonies, farmers markets, downtown alive, etc... that go on every weekend.

It was more aimed at the Tiger fan I quoted. Can't really talk sh*t when your cities biggest attraction is a mall.

He does this quite often. However, my point still stands, you can't bring Starkville into a conversation about Columbus and Lafayette. Just doesn't make much sense.

Brings to mind Skip Bertman's comments about Starkville...

"Starkville is an indian word for trailer park."

"When we traveled to Starkville, I always asked for a room without a view."
