There's not one SEC fan outside of the state of Arkansas that would take or even consider your D over our's. Coaching is a maybe, and QB isn't even anywhere near close.

Probably not...and you were like 60 yards better per game. Let's not act like it was that fricking great considering you believe our's to be putrid
ok maybe...we're talkin Merlins here

and in NO CONTENTION for a West title...Sounds like it's do or die time this year considering your defense, coach and QB play

is Southern Miss supposed to suck again this year?
I mean could you see South Alabama beating them if they played?
Five of our losses last year were by 1,7,1,2, and 1 point.
only team that blew us out was Navy.

it is do or die time
with the QB we have and the defense we have returning there's no excuse for this not to be Muffin's best year yet.

For the record...some of my best buds are State Alum's. I'll be sitting right there with them come November.
Good Luck

State will win 7-8. They lack SEC quality depth. They lose a lot of starters after this season so enjoy the ride.
Glad someone else gets it. This is EXACTLY why State can't beat teams like LSU.
I think 7 wins is being generous.

Hope they have pre-scheduled a big celebration just like the last time the Aggies came to town.

Dak could be the best QB in the SEC next year
He wont be the best QB for the same reason Nick Marshall won't: You must be a legitimate drop back passing threat on a consistent basis to hold that title.

What has Dak done to prove that he can't be this? And if he can't, why do all the talking heads seem to think that he can?

State fans are excited and understandably so. They were able to take the noose off after the Egg Bowl and get off gallows when they blew out whichever C-USA team they played, and now they're locked and loaded and ready to make an SEC West run. But how good is MSU? They played Alabama well and they beat a so-so Ole Miss team, but they barely scraped by mediocre Bowling Green (21-20) Kentucky, (28-22 despite UK losing their QB in the 1st quarter) and Arky (24-17 in OT). They also played Auburn well but that was before Auburn went on their ridiculous run. They were never really in it against USC, and LSU won by like 30 (but it was close in the 3rd!) They also scored a few TDs late against A&M to make the game look respectable but it was never in doubt. So they were about as good as their record indicates
I feel like the defense will be solid, especially against the run and will be okay against the pass. Offensively, they lack outside playmakers and the offensive line is average at best. Their RB corps is solid and will be the strength. Prescott is a good QB with great potential but was inconsistent last year and may be injury prone.
tl;dr 8-4
The only thing I would caution State fans to do is hold back the hype on Prescott/Robinson. Going into last year, State fans were all about Russell/Perkins, Relf before that, etc and all disappointed.

58%, and talking heads are dumb.

Lol no one hyped up Russell or Perkins after 2012. And you basically said a bunch of lengthy shite that can be applied to your team.
You guys laughed last November when we pointed out that we played Bama and AU (top two teams last year) tougher than you and then you got physically beat down again just like most years since 2005 or whenever.

8-4 I can see 9-3 it'll be tough though.

So, this never improves from year to year? Or even game to game?
62% in his last 5 -- and I'll be upset if he's not around 65% overall this year.
Let us not forget that we basically started all over at receiver last year -- with guys that are now experienced.

2. Taveze Calhoun, RJr., Mississippi State: Another guy who can do a little bit of everything from his cornerback position, the 6-1, 184-pound Calhoun had 45 total tackles last season and tied for second on the team with three interceptions. Calhoun is long and rangy and cut from the same mold as former Mississippi State Jim Thorpe Award winner Johnthan Banks.
7. Jamerson Love, RSr., Mississippi State: The 5-10, 175-pound Love hits as well as he covers and teams with Calhoun to give the Bulldogs one of the better cornerback tandems in the league. Love led the team with 10 passes defended last season and tied for second with three interceptions. He has exceptional quickness.
