Check out these numbers

238 / 5.0
161 / 3.5
411 / 8.6
56 / 2.7

They're the total yards and yards per carry given up by Auburn in each game this season. You'll note that one is vastly different than the others.

Going further, Mississippi State averaged an even worse 1.7 yards per carry against LSU. Right now you're looking very one dimensional and that doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

The real answer: Mullen goes mind blowingly conservative when he gets a lead. It's why he's 42-1 when leading at half. I don't like it one damn bit, but it sure as hell seems to work.

MSU didnt run the ball against Auburn. It was easy recognize because the previous week was the complete opposite as Leonard Fournette dry humped Auburns dead lifeless corpse with no mercy.
