Harrell seems to be doing very well for himself right now, as is Kliff Kingsbury. B.J. Symons is probably the worst off of Leach's Tech QBs, but he's still a multi-millionaire investment banker.

That is a good pitch to top ranked recruits. Come play for me. You won't win title and won't play in the NFL but you
might be an assistant college coach a decade into your post-college career or you can work in corporate finance.

Jesus, when did this become a pissing match about who has worse talent. What an odd argument.

State beat the breaks off LSU. The air raid broke records in its debut. SEC fricked.

He'd probably rather face Big 12/Pac 12 defenses in general, but he'd also probably rather face the SEC offenses in general.

Did UK have the recruits MSU now gets? No. Leach was new then. He was the OC... Not HC.

Did UK have a defense? No. I'm not sure that they have ever had a top 30 defense in their history. So how does that even compare to MSU?

Again... ignorance.

Personally, This is what the SEC and Bama needs. It will force us to be better on defense.

Your issue is that you start all things equal. They are not. Leach was not responsible for the Defense. His job is the offense.

I mean you say that but this stuff will build and change your expectations with time. You already are coming hard at anyone with legit criticism of Leach, which btw I don’t think you are wrong on some of the counters.

I’m not even just talking about his overall record, he could go 7-3 and one of those losses will probably be a big lead given away just because of his style. Are you going to be totally rational in those times?

Maybe you will be but most wouldn’t

Moo States is marginally better in the recruiting game but that is not something the program should hang its hat on. The best classes you have ever had in recent history barely crack the Top 20 rankings.

No no. Bama recruits in the top 10.

MSU recruits top 25 to 15.

Again... Tech never had a defense like MSU.

1- Tech is not in the SEC.

True - it has a much easier division.

quote:

2- Tech has never recruited at the level of the MSU

Since 2000, Mississippi State's average ranking is 31; Tech's is 44.5. Not much difference really at those tiers (not like comparing 1st to 14th)

quote:

3- Tech was never a recruiting machine in the conference. It's like comparing Vandy to Bama.

Neither is Mississippi State. Tech to State is NOT the same as Vandy to Bama. Not even in the same galaxy.

4- If MSU can beat TAMU under Moorhead....

Okay...?

5- Tech has never had a defense like MSU. In fact, none of Leach's teams ever had a defense like MSU in MSU's worst years.

The one that gave up 34 points and over 400 yards to what may be the second worst offense in the SEC West (no offense LSU fans, but Brennan looked lost - he might turn things around, but still).

quote:

2018/19 MSU had the #1 defense in the nation playing in the SEC!

It helps when you average 40 rushes per game. Last year, State was #11 in the conference in defense and gave up just shy of 400 ypg. How does 2018 help? State had, what, three first round draft picks on that defense?

Your debate points feel woefully lacking.

Well this just isn’t true. Aggie put up 17 on Vandy. Arkansas is in our division baw.

Kingsbury is an oddity in that he failed upwards continually. How you go from his miserable stretch in Lubbock to the hottest coaching commodity in the NFL is an odd thing for sure.

Oh well . . . the Kyler Murray thing seems to be working out less bad than most folks feared but he still seems to not know how to coach.

I'm referencing the fact that his offense never helped his defense. The same reason why the hurry up can be feast or famine for a team - no time to rest for your defense.

State hasn't finished in the top 15 since 2003.

In the past 10 years they've averaged 27th.

Do coaches get to claim players from their coaching trees as well?

Bloody hell, half the damn NFL must be from the Saban coaching tree.
