My opinion was never that Leach would struggle in the SEC because of defense but rather its because of how one dimensional he is.

You have to be able to win in multiple ways to be elite. Mississippi State can beat anyone if they're clicking though.

It’s exciting to watch and I enjoyed seeing the Pirate slice LSU to pieces, but it won’t win long term. You will not win in the SEC averaging 9 yards rushing per game.

Wrong. You are comparing different decades as if they were in the same time frame. To get better "feel" for it...

2000-2008(was fired in 2009) average class was 47. You don't get to add classes that Leach is not there recruiting... good for averages or not.

Now we move to recent MSU. This is where you are flawed... From what Mullen built, it continues.

So from his first class to now, they rank and average of 26. with 2 top 20 class.

That's a massive difference in quality players.

Are we comparing the recruiting capabilities of Tech vs State, or are we comparing Leach to Mullen? You stated schools, not coaches.

You have absolutely no idea if Leach can sustain what Mullen recruited. (Also - still not top 15)

Sure it is.

LOL... Alabama is routinely #1, top 3 at worst. Vanderbilt is typically a good 40-50 spots below, minimum. 62 spots between the two schools this year. Tech is pretty low, thanks to only having 9 commits (who have an average rating better than Mississippi State's, so...)

Yeah, that's wrong too. They did not give up 34. A pick 6 resulted in 7 points. So 27.

He was lost because the 3-3-5. You will learn soon enough.

Suuure.

Leach's offense is take what the defense is giving. The D Saturday was giving the pass and Leach took in bulk. No need rush the ball.

Leech runs the most balance offense in the country.

You still think balance means run vs pass. In his offense it means attacking all parts of the field on every play creating space.

You have to defend the entire field and the longer he can defend his QB, the deeper you have to defend it. That's why RB out of backfield is so effective late. They have space to operate.

I know it different but it has worked everywehre he has been.

People keep saying but he lost at TECH or WSU and MS State is the same. We shall see. State has done one thing these past couple decades and that's field a defense. Some of those losses turn into wins with a few stops.

No nc team has ever lost more than LSU did. LSU is bad this year, but so was Florida after they lost all of their players with Urban Meyer as their coach. I believe they went 7-6 or something? Let's so how O does after this year to really judge him.

Look I like State, always have, but I was around the Air Raid and they had no defense. That works in the B12 and the PAC but will not work here. I love Leach and he can be entertaining as hell but bookmark this and see where he is in 5 years. It will not be at State as they want to beat the West and just do not see this happening.

I think the Leach hire is excellent but it comes with one caveat.

His best chance to win is in the next 3 years. Because during that time, MSU will still have a good pool of defensive front seven talent already on the team.

After that, Leach will not recruit the front 7 and everyone will be able to run the ball on him all day. His offense will suffer and he will panic and his record will reflect it.

He makes me nervous for this year and the next 1-2. After that, easy win.

(All of this is guesswork on my part)

Yeah, right. LOL

I doubt that.

5-star QB's and 5-star receivers will line up to play that offense in the SEC. And D-Line, O-Line etc will also gravitate to an SEC winner.
