The thing about Evans isn't just his height, it's his strength and size. He is extremely strong and he knows how to use it. You simply cannot hit him at the line effectively, if you try he will knock you down and be standing alone 20 yards down the field. He was also a legit basketball prospect and has a 40 inch vertical to go with his height, dude just couldn't hit a jump shot and so he became a football player his Sr year in HS. He also has unusually large hands that make the ball look like a toy.
The primary pass to him also isn't really a jump ball, it is a comeback. Evans forces teams to respect his speed and stay with him on routes (else he will have 95 yard TD's like he did against Bama) but as soon as JM sees the CB's back turn he throws the comeback to Evans and he throws it high. It's damn near impossible to defend, esp because even if the DB turns for the pass he has to get through Evans in order to get to the ball.

Yeah. He did. Julio's teams went 2-1 against PP7's teams.
Julio had 21 catches for 319 yards and 2 TDs in their 3 meetings. That certainly doesn't paint a picture of PP7 schooling Julio. Speaking of pictures...

How great is Mike Evans that you guys are even asking.

Julio played well vs LSU, however PP didn't line up on Julio every play nor was PP in the game every time Julio was.

doesn't really matter because evans will probably play TE in the NFL, but peterson.
Not really that close. A physical receiver plays into the hand of PP and he will win jump balls.

He only caught 1 td against peterson and that was in the 4th quarter with lsu up by 10 and a few minutes left. The other td Peterson wasnt on the field due to cramps

Evans is not a TE, he's too fast and athletic and has never put his hand on the ground. He's a lot closer to a Chad Johnson type, a big and physical WR that can run but mainly catches anything thrown to him within 10 yards. He may not be quite as fast as Johnson but he is far from a possession WR or certainly a TE.

And? What does that matter? PP7 was covering him and the score made it a 3 point game with nearly 4 minutes to go.

Why was he cramping, I wonder? Could it have been that he was chasing Julio around the field all day?
PP7 was/is an incredible corner. He's a great NFL corner & a phenomenal returner. That said, Julio got the better of him in college.

No, Peterson has a legitimate problem with cramps. Julio Jones didn't do shite when it mattered.

It was against a prevent d and anytime you dont bump jones he usually beats you.
Also peterson only covered julio when he came to his half of the field so those numbers arent a direct stat to their matchup.
08 julio
09 pp7
10 both had great moments in this game
Sucks that we probably wont see another cb/wr battle like this for another decade or 2

Peterson would shut Evans down. Evans gets, at the most, 2 catches for under 50 yards.

Sounds like you're the one with a legitimate problem with cramps, Nancy. Has this problem continued for Peterson in the NFL? I've only seen a handful of Cardinal games, but he's never left for cramps when I've been watching.

Riiiight. Scoring a TD to make it a field goal game late in the 4th qtr didn't matter? Dragging PP7's arse in OT in 2008 didn't matter?
Nola.com article on the 2008 game

On Alabama's first offensive play in overtime, Wilson found freshman wide receiver Julio Jones down the sideline. Jones, who had seven receptions for 128 yards, beat LSU freshman Patrick Peterson. The play set up the Crimson Tide on the 1-yard line.

I need more coffee, I meant Calvin Johnson. Both are 6'5 and similar size and weight and can beat you physically or with speed. Johnson is just faster.

No, he did have a problem with cramps. He was diagnosed with it and he left during some part of almost every lsu game he was in. You dont know what the shite you're talking about.
And don't brag about your offensive game against us in 08. our defense was crap that year, and yall didnt do shite against us. y'all only got 21 points in regulation.
