I know more SC fans than I can count, myself included, that would punch Mike Bobo in the face if they saw him at Sonic....

Bobo finally has an offensive line for the first time in his career.

I don't think scar fans are going to get close. Bobo is protected.

There was no up with Monken leaving. He’s running the same offense and if he sucks he’ll be canned.

I could be the OC at UGA with that talent. Bobo will be fine because they have more talent than anyone not named Alabama.

snicker. So all of a sudden Mark Richt was signing a bunch of 3 star recruits.

According to wikipedia, Mike Bobo was the OC from 2007-2015. Let's take a look at the recruiting, according to 247. Apparently 247 team rankings only go back as far as 2010. From 2010 to 2015 Richt recruited, on average, between #8 and #9 class in the nation. But just make up schit and throw it against the wall if you want to.

2015 UGA ranked #6
2014- #8
2013- #12
2012- #9
2011- #7
2010- #10

and with more talent than any team in the nation Alabama lost 2 games each of the last 2 years thanks largely to the crappy coordinators.

Can you explain how the guy with all the career SEC passing records had him as OC if that's the case?

The cry when he was our OC before was "Run the damn ball, Bobo!"

Monken/Bennett combo was the secret to Kirby’s success. UGA’s program drastically changed once Monken took over. It will be interesting to see how they perform in 23...well maybe not with that embarrassing schedule.

UGA had 4 players on offense selected in the 1st round of the NFL draft in 8 seasons during Monken’s tenure. Not a single OL was drafted in the first round.

The roster he is inheriting is exponentially better than what he had during his first stint.

Wait, are GA fan now trying to convince us that Richt was only getting 3 star players? LoL.

Averaging a 9th or 10th ranked class nationally during that time frame was good for like 5th or 6th in our own conference. Bringing in a 10th ranked class is kind of not a huge deal when there's 5 teams on your schedule that year that brought in better ones.

Richt didn't "just sign a bunch of 3 stars", that's a liiiitle hyperbolic, but he damn sure didn't land the 5 stars that we do now. Or the number of 4 stars.

All of this is on the internet.
You shouldn't be this wrong.
quote:

2015 UGA ranked #6
2014- #8
2013- #12
2012- #9
2011- #7
2010- #10

2010, richt signed 8 three stars (8 four, and 2 five)
2011, richt signed 13 three stars (10 four, and 2 five)
2012, richt signed 9 three stars (6 four and 4 five)
2013, richt signed 15 three stars (0 four and 7 five)
2014, richt signed 8 three stars (10 four and 3 five).

Three stars were easily the largest category of recruits for Mark Richt (particularly in the trenches).

From 2010 to 2014, Richt signed 56 three stars (5 recruiting classes)
From 2018 to 2022, Smart signed 24 three stars (5 recruiting classes).
Hell... From 2016 to 2023 (8 recruiting classes), Smart signed 44 three stars. And dawg fans would argue those three stars are better evaluated than the three stars from Richt.

Again... this is all on the internet.
Be better.

Just because Bobo has talent or the blue print for a sucessful offense does not mean he will have sucess. He still has to put that talent in the right place and call the right plays at the right time.

Just ask any LSU fan who thought the same thing in 2020.
"Oh we have all the talent and Brady/Ensminger offensive blue print how can we go wrong.........."

difference is that ensminger didn't really have much of a productive history as a playcaller. Bobo has proven here at UGA to be an excellent OC during a different era. There's no reason he can't be another good one now in this era.

That was good for 5th place in the SEC. Not Ideal. Not to mention if our OL was national ranked it would have been just above the Campbell fighting Camels
