We both have UGA connections and it's her birthday so we're going with all of our UGA friends. Some of them tell me there are a good many AU people who take it, but I can't tell if they're just trying to get me to back off the ledge or not.

They have AU specific buses too, so why we're not doing that is a really good question.

She's same as me, AU undergrad UGA grad school. She's just not as spiteful toward UGA as I am.

The thing is Michigan can't afford to miss on this hire. They must absolutely get it right this time and they know it. That means:

1. They will be willing to spend major dollars
2. They will likely go after a proven winner

While I doubt Marc Richt leaves or even has much interest, he would be an attractive candidate for them for many reasons. He's proven to be a consistent winner in a much tougher conference and he has the reputation of being a good man. Why is that last part important? Richt would fit their idealized "Michigan Man" concept which is all about being everything good in this world - ethics, high standards, yadda yadda as that's how Michigan sees itself.

So it wouldn't surprise me at all if Michigan goes after him. Doesn't mean they'll get him but if he fits the ideal candidate description they're looking for then their AD will start exploring things. If CMR doesn't fit what they're looking for then he won't even get a phone call.

At any rate, doubt it happens and very much doubt the 'a booster told me' story but the idea of Michigan being interested isn't far-fetched. They're going to be looking at a lot of coaches.

Man I'm not sure, clemson weekend was the last time I've been downtown and when I was along broad I can't recall if it was there or not.

Does the bus go back right after the game? I dont' tailgate near downtown but if yall are still around after I'll come buy you a consolation beer to help forget the game.

I don't know I gotta figure all that out, I'll let you know. I've got to toe the line between getting obliterated if we lose and making sure I'm cordial enough not to talk shite on the bus.

I think it's the opposite, if yall lose you'll have a much better time on the bus because fans will be partying and MOST people, aside from maybe a little jab, will probably offer you whatever liquor they brought with them and hope you join the party. If yall win you'll be dealing with 60 very pissed off drunk people who don't even want to look at anything orange or blue.

Yea winery is closed :(

One of my auburn buds showed me a deal that Auburn was doing $10 for a bar crawl in Athens getting 1 drink at each bar. Bars include Bourbon, Silver Dollar, Sandbar, and Double Barrel (must be new). I don't see the point for these bars to do this type of special since they'll probably 4 of the most crowded this weekend anyway.

I'm thinking about doing this with some of my auburn friends because that's $10 for $25 worth of drinks.

Yes it is. Michigan is much more prestigious than UGA. UGA is a regional school. Michigan carries respect everywhere.

It would be shocking if this happened and it is not a "distinct possibility" IMO. There is a long list of reasons this won't happen - UGA is currently a better job, Richt has absolutely no ties to Michigan making it unlikely that he puts together a quality coaching staff/recruits effectively, etc.

Richt has grown stale at UGA for a lot of fans, but the timing would be puzzling. Nobody expected a national title this year. I think the majority of the media picked USCe to win the East. I picked us to finish 10-2 and even thought 9-3 was more realistic. We're in a transition period at QB and in the first year of a new defensive staff that's been an upgrade over the last staff. We were razor thin coming into the year at DB and short on talent. Plus, we should finish with our highest ranked recruiting class during Richt's tenure.

I will say that I believe Richt needs to get it done in the next two to three years or he'll be nudged out. He has a quality defensive staff, a bright future at QB and a lot of other young talent. He's been very close 3 years at UGA, but that doesn't count for much when you haven't won an SEC championship in a decade.

I heard some people talking about that. Assuming we get to the bars I don't know where we'll go. I haven't been out in Athens in a while.

Of the big bars Boars Head is the only one I really like. And I'm sure it'll be terrible. Maybe Trappeze or Copper Creek or something.

That gap is closing. UGA is on the verge of entering into "national" state school territory, similar to UNC, UT, UM, UVA, etc. UGA still has a way to go to reach that level, but it has the history, money, and large state backing at this point.

Meanwhile, Michigan will probably decline in that category in coming decades.

I don't believe this. If he went anywhere it would be Nebraska or Miami. As big of blunders as Georgia has had the past couple of years like last weekend, he has a top 5 class coming in with a new defensive staff. He has 3 more years, then I think things get real.
