Sounds like a douche. Michigan isn't Stanford - what a cult.

I doubt it was Auburn, as his mom was heavily involved and only soured once Muschamp left abruptly, and she stated as such. That's when AU was pretty much out of it for Gary. I'm guessing Ole Miss/USc due to them never really being a player, and with the stuff going on at Ole Miss right now, it's only logical to "assume" it is whom he is referring to. Regardless, I wouldn't trust anything coming out on Michigan's end.

How, as an AD, can you make those statements with out KNOWING you will have to speak to the NCAA and so will the recruit! Now either he is stupid.... or He is wanting to get something started. I vote Stupid
They have Harbaugh as their HC and he has been doing everything in his power to gain access to the South and it's talent. Sponsoring summer camps down here - wanting to hold spring practice down here, etc.

"I" think the comment was made because Harbaugh and the AD want to get something started. And by making accusations like this, it is pretty much guaranteed that the NCAA will stand up and take notice, especially with the recent OleMiss case.

They must feel confident that Gary is clean coming in to Michigan because I guarantee the NCAA will see this smoke and ask some questions.

He founded the bank that was the 6th largest one to ever fail in the U.S. I'd say his bagman funds took a hit (to the tune of $164 million). Coincidently, that's around the time AU started distancing themselves from him.

So official visits are the only way to offer recruits incentives? Who knew?

Auburn wouldn't stoop to that level and is known for their spotless compliance record over the years.

For all intent and purposes, Auburn has been spotless for over 2 decades according to the NCAA - and they're the only ones that matter.

Seriously. On NSD, it was down to Michigan and Clemson. So if Ole Miss cheated it didn't help much. I really think this is all about Big 10 moralizing. The AD just wants to say that he picked clean Michigan over any other school + benefits. It's fricking pathetic.

USC, Auburn and Ole Miss

This is shocking. All 3 of these universities have no history of "incentivized" recruiting.

Hackett said he thinks Rashan Gary was offered "incentives

So he isn't offering up any proof, he just thinks incentives were offered. With his head coach having sleep overs and Netflix and chill nights, I think he should probably shut the frick up.

Yeah I think this was meant for Clemson, not for Ole Miss. Regardless, unless he is 100% certain Gary or his mother did not take a single illegal benefit from anyone, it was incredibly stupid because the NCAA will want to look into Gary. As far as hiring his coach goes, that just happens everywhere. We hired Shea's brother, and the only reason Freeze got a job at Ole Miss the first time was for Michael Oher. I don't like it, but until the NCAA makes it illegal, it's just a smart move to make. Hell the only thing keeping the Memphis basketball program alive right now is the fact Josh Pastner hired the father of like 4 highly ranked basketball players.

One of those schools recently received an NCAA Notice of Allegation, I'm pretty sure we all know who he is referring to.

One of those schools was a serious threat to Michigan at the end, the other was not.

Based on Auburns class, I'd say Auburn is innocent.

Based on recent Ole Miss history and current class, I'd say Ole Miss didn't offer enough.

Nobody is innocent. Do you really think a guy would leave Miami to play at UT Knoxville? Would Shyheim Carter choose to go to Bama over Ole Miss if Ole Miss was offering him money and Bama wasn't? Would you leave the perfect weather of south beach to go play for Butch Jones at a school with a bunch of hippies?

They didn't distance themselves too far. After he fell off as trustee after a near 30 yr stint back in '12, AU named him head of finance over Tigers Unlimited. Was that an interim position or permanent?
