4 non conference games in regular season

Murray State = 0 sacks
Toledo = 0 sacks
Indiana = 0 sacks
Arkansas State = 3 sacks

3 does not equal 9 in any math class I ever took?

I don't give a rat's arse about Sam or his gayness, I just want the world to shut the frick up about it. I watch football for football, not to hear ranting and raving about gay people pro or con.

Well, if such a large part of society took this same stance, it wouldn't be a big deal.

I don't disagree. I'm just saying: if you're the defensive player of the year in the best football conference in America, you're a legitimate pick.

Unless the people actually doing the picking don't agree. LOL

OMG you're right! Obama is using professional sports as a platform to further his amoral, sinister vision of a totalitarian state!

After the year he had he should have went higher. Coming out probably hurt his stock if anything. He was a steal compared to the players picked around him.

But he just doesn't have the intangibles to be a great NFL player IMO

What intangibles? Please specify.

BTW, I could care less that he's gay and am really, really sick of hearing about it.

As a football player he made a hell of alot of big plays last year, including securing our Cotton Bowl victory.

SEC Co-DPY, unanimous All-American. Dumb arse question. Saint Louis got a steal. Also, it's not JUST about winning..it's about making $ and Michael Sam on a Missouri NFL team sells merch and sells tix.

What happened with Sams? He didn't have a good combine and everyone latched on to that as the reason why his stock plummeted. It was bullshite. Example. Terrell Suggs like Sams had a phenomenal career...was a hell of a football player and bombed the combine. Ran a 4.9 or something pedestrian in the 40. Everyone was freaking out saying his stock had plummeted. He was taken by the Ravens high in the first round and has had a great career. Great football players are great football players. He probably should have been a day 2 pick and fell because GM's and HC's didn't want a poison in their locker room.

ETA: actually I guess not totally a dumb arse question. I think it's both. Primarily I think it was a great value pick. But yeah I don't think it is a coincidence that he went to a Missouri team. It was also somewhat of a publicity stunt and so what?

Has one ever been drafted that late? There were better SEC defensive players drafted first round.

Turn the TV on and then tell me what you think. It's too obvious.

But then they wouldn't be the NFL team to save the first college player to come out of the closet from going undrafted

I think its a whole bunch of everything.

I'm sure the NFL wouldve been pissed if he hadnt been drafted. There were a lot of people including the POTUS ready to put their hashtag stamp of approval on it and the NFL wanted that bad. If you want Hollywood/TMZ/Ellen/democrat/liberal love and PR then this is a great pick to get that.

If you dont want that circus and subsequent criticism if you cut him, you probably dont want Sam even if he is good. I mean would the Pats take him if you knew that circus was coming your way? Would Sam want to go the New England and disappear from the publicity?

So yes there is more here than football and that is how the NFL opperates.

I will just be glad when this story dies out. With the media though, I don't see that happening anytime soon.
