I can't remember more than 4 QBs ever being taken in the 1st round (certainly can't remember this happening in the last 10 years or so). If the SEC puts four QBs in the first round I would be more than surprised since NFL scouts seem to love Bridgewater and Hundley, among others, more than any of the SEC guys.

You're so bitter. Relax a little.

Vick has won a ton of games. Hell, Kaepernick won the NFC last year.

The issue isn't a QB that runs. It's finding one that's committed to passing first so they don't die in the open field.

End up a Cam Newton? Knowing the playbook would improve that team.

That was the 2012 draft.

There's still a lot of football left to be played, but there's nobody as good as Luck or Griffin. Now, there could be 5 or 6 guys as good as Tannehill......

This. Most running QBs go into run mode far too quickly, well before they have to. It becomes a crutch, and diminshes the power of the NFL QB position. The true pocket passer has been, and probably always will be, superior in the NFL.

It's not only that, by running, they expose themselves to probable injury. Look at Griffin, or Vick when he was younger.

NFL defenses have figured out pretty quickly that if they hit the QB, he'll stop running.

True, good point. A running QB seems to run counter to modern efforts to provide more and more protection to QBs.

Once they tuck the ball and run, they're not quarterbacks anymore. Teams are taking a risk drafting a guy like RGIII. But, as long as they keep picking up guys like that, they'll need backups for them.

Point being, there's definitely a place in the league for a guy like Manziel. The question is if he's dedicated to changing his game up a bit when he starts getting tackled by professional players.

honestly reading this thread makes me wonder if people have watched Manziel play at all this year.

Manziel is averaging 6 fewer carries per game than last year. He's also averaging 2.1 more yards per pass attempt and improved his completion percentage despite no longer having Swope as a security blanket. He's on pace to pass for 36 TDs (the all-time SEC record is 40). His game has already evolved.

Mett still needs to prove himself against a good secondary.

He already has.

He's easily the most accurate pocket passer in the conference.

He clearly needs another year or two to develop.
