That is totally wrong

Says that a kid did not have a chance to go elsewhere to play college football .
Says it about a kid who is actually playing college football.
Can't explain that.

Yeah all they've done is produce a #1 overall pick at qb.. Then followed that up by producing another great qb who was a 2nd rd pick who is a pro bowler going into his 3rd season who some how made the Raiders watchable...

I wish the kid well, but he was no SEC qb, and Mullen knew it. Still a good qb though.
Eta: We went with Nick Tiano instead, and that will be a wise decision. Mullen knows what he's doing here.

And there were other issues. Why make those public if you're Stare and hurt the kid
Where did you get this from?

Early in recruiting he had multiple offers. (including other SEC schools.) When he committed to Mullen, everyone else backed off.
That's one reason why I love the SEC so much. Once a kid commits, the other coaches do the gentlemanly thing and stop recruiting them.

If Mullen knew it then why offer and accept his commitment until the very last second? I don't understand how anyone could defend Mullen then or now.

He'll probably put up All-American numbers at Fresno State.
Mississippi State didn't recruit Brett Favre.
Mississippi State told Jerry Rice he couldn't play in the SEC.
Mississippi State told Steve McNair he'd never play quarterback in college.
Mississippi State told Ndamukong Suh he couldn't play in the SEC (His sister was on the soccer team at MSU and his parents wanted him to come to MSU).

Even worse, MSU recruited Favre's older brother and still missed on the HoF QB.
They absolutely recruited Suh and thought they had a chance at him right until the end

Farmer, answer me this, because this topic honestly puzzles me.
Why do Aggies hold on to this specific quarterback so tightly? Is this one of yalls son? Every school does it, it's happened countless times since then, the kid turned out fine, and we're still signing kids from Texas.
Help me to understand.

This one was highly publicized in Texas. The MSU fan response was fairly shitty. I don't know about Aggies caring more or not but Texans look after their own.

So you're telling me y'all do this for every recruit that gets dropped? I highly doubt it. It would be an everyday story and the list would become so long that you would forget who you were supposed to hate. What about when Sumlin does it or Charlie Strong? Do they get demonized? Nah, I don't think so.

I think that is the difference between the Deep South and the Southwest.
You don't have to get along with your enemy but you don't go out of your way to screw them.
This kid may of may not have the ability to compete in the SEC but he was offered early, he accepted and then he was screwed over.
That is not right.
Even Charlie Strong would not do that.

It was a pretty shitty deal for the kid, but such is life. Just about every school has done this at one time or another. I doubt it bothers him anymore, though.
