Yeah, chunking it up to Mike Evans in the middle of the field isn't going to work. It's just that he did a whole lot more than that.

Merril Hoge doesnt even know how to tie a damn tie. frick that guy

There is no denying that he will have to refine his game. Some of the stuff he did at A&M isn't going to fly in the NFL and I think that is what concerns people. He sometimes had 7-8 seconds in the pocket because A&M's OL was so good. It was absolutely absurd the amount of time he had in some games. It's a lot easier to make some throws when receivers have 7 second to get free. That will almost never happen in the NFL.
These aren't my opinions but obviously you can see where some at the next level would be hesitant with him.

But what did Hoge's tie knot have to say about JFF?

Exactly so not everything he is saying is off base.

Sure. I mean Brett Farve went in the second round.

I guess we'll see. I hope he does well. Fran Tarkenton was fun to watch and I hope JFF can do that same kind of thing. It'll be interesting to see if Houston takes him or goes with, say, Clowney.

just look at this fricking moron

Personally, I think he will succeed in the NFL. Dude is an absolute freak of an athlete. I'm just try to look at it from both angles.

I think he will to. A&M's D was horrible but I think he had a better year 2013 than 2012, even with all the pressure squarely on him.

The only thing "bust" about JFF is his "busty" girlfriend, Lauren Hanley
Hoge obviously hasn't been watching any nfl games lately

He has absolutely no instinct or feel for pocket awareness. He has an instinct to run.
You can always tell the people who have only seen 2012 highlight reels. So many of these NFL "analysts" are absolute morons.

yeah, Terry Bradshaw said Cam Newton would be a bust too.
Merrill Hoge needs to learn how to tie his tie. That thing looks like a tire jack under his neck.

The things Johnny has going for him are the fact that he has freakish athletic skills and instincts. Also, he can throw the ball really well from outside the pocket. I expect him to impress at his pro day in ways that Bridgewater wasn't able to do.
While Hoge makes some good observations about Johnny not displaying traditional QB attributes, he is only a RS-soph with a lot of upside.
If he can develop into a Russell Wilson by the time he is 25 then I think he can play in the league. The NFL is evolving, offenses are adapting new styles each year.
All the QBs in this draft are a little overhyped, but that is what happens every year. But he is a great competitor and I wish him the best of luck wherever he lands.

Wasnt JFF the most accurate passer in the SEC last year?
and 3rd in the nation.
And the most accurate pocket passer in the nation. In other words, he completed a higher percentage of his passes that were thrown from within the pocket than any other QB in the nation.

I think Hoge is usually a complete idiot, but he's right here. Manziel is going to be a bust and very overrated going into the NFL. He's going to get crushed by NFL defensive ends and outside linebackers all day long.

I think Hoge may have put that tie on a little tight.
