Never understood the phrase happy Memorial Day. It’s probably the saddest day of the year

Stalag 17 was a good one, although it was focused on POWs in WW2 rather than the war itself.

I may have missed these, but I didn’t see Saving Private Ryan and Hacksaw Ridge on the list for American movies. Enemy at the Gates isn’t American but a pretty good war/sniper movie

Edit: think it’s WWII of Russia vs. Nazi’s, although it’s hard to watch something where Russia is the “good guy” right now

We were soldiers
Fury
Black Hawk Down
Heartbreak Ridge
The Covenant
Lone Survivor
13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi.
Full Metal Jacket
The Patriot

Are all my favorites. Black Hawk Down and the Covenant (just came out and is phenomenal) are probably my favorites but that’s mostly due to my time in Afghanistan.

December 7, 1941:

Yeah, let's just go ahead and make that 5 months and 29 days, shall we...?

I detest saving private Ryan. Just kill the damn NAZI and be done with it.

In the Army Now.

Chevy Chase and Dan Akroid in spies like us and Bill Murray in Stripes get an an honorable mention as Cold War movies.

For me it would either be “The Great Edcape” or “Pork Chop Hill”

I've been thinking I want to check out the Midway movie made in 2019. I read it tries to stay close to the events
watched it 2 nights ago. It was good. So is the 70’s version. Very brave men back then.
If you ever get to Fredericksburg, check out the Pacific Museum (right beside the Nimitz home museum). It was very well done and you’ll love it if you’re a WW2 buff.
