No, LSU. Louisana as a whole has done a bit worse than that.

Interesting article....I too have heard stories. My folks live down the street from his grandparents in Tyler.
I'm surprised it took this long for an article like this to hit the press.

They sent it to some auto body place in Gladewater that wasn't even in the phone book. Came back the wrong color. It was non stop excuses.

Have never in my life seen this kind of coverage about ANY athlete. Not only about Johnny, but multiple media outlets doing in depth stories about his entire family history.
Really, never? Really?

Old money doesn't care about showing it off, they just spend their money on what they like and don't really GAF what other people think. If anything they don't like to show off their money too much because they think it is bad form, more of an "act like you've been there" attitude.
wow. You've really got a great understanding of old money.
stop making bullshite excuses for these people that apparently don't give a shite about the repercussions to TAMU and the fans. Realize that something happened (whether you agree with the NCAA rules or not), let TAMU find a solution, and move on.
But STOP making excuses for him and his family. It's not ESPNs fault, it's not deadspins fault, it's all on him. Blame him and move on.
No one is out to get you, no one is out to get TAMU. He is the biggest story in offseason CFB so the attention is deserved.

Looks like the ten most wanted terrorist list. Reckon the "white" guy in the back is the front man?

There was a link to pics of the Manzeil house on yahoo & all that was missing was a velvet pic of Elvis on the dining room wall. Looked like trailer trash type won the lottery & did the decorating themselves. Old money or not, those pics showed some very gaudy rooms & furniture.

That's the point I was making in the big thread when I posted they were selling their $360,000 house in Bryan. Someone else posted that it wasn't their only house; OK, millionares don't own a great house in one place and a average, 2400sqft one somewhere else. Wealthy people own the best wherever they are. This family doesn't have the dough we have been lead to believe. I bet Johnny has been getting all this crap, on the arm, from someone else all along.
What a dumb conclusion.
The guy that did that article did some good research, but, in the end, he half-assed it. There's a lot more to the story than merely reporting what you can find in public records. The research underlying the Deadspin article would be a good start to a good story on the Manziel family, but only a start. You need to talk to some folks with knowledge in order to put all that into context.
For example, as a lawyer, the logical conclusion I drew from reading that article is that a big chunk of the Manziel family assets has been placed into a family limited partnership, probably managed by Johnny's great uncle Nolan, in order to protect that generation of Manziel's from blowing their inheritance--which certainly sounds like a prudent move when you read about their exploits. A little more effort might have uncovered someone with knowledge about how all this works, and what it really means financially to the limited partners--but Deadspin never got that far.

not possible. Aggressor has stated that old money people do not act like this. Case closed.

I would imagine a follow up piece is in the works. Regardless, for a journalist with no legal background, it's what I would expect.
