whats this mean fla is horrible and has no chance on OL?

or martez being 20 yrs old came in more ready then expected and could be the next laremy tunsil who holds it down at LT or RT as a trufrosh

He will learn on the job and he isnt quite ready yet for SEC defenses...no true frosh is. Thank God he can practice against New Mexico State & East Carolina.

Nervous about his pass protection. He'll be a mauler from day 1 though, so that's good.

LT: David Sharpe
LG: Travaris Dorsey
C: Trip Thurman
RG: Mason Halter
RT: Martez Ivey

That could be solid IMO.

Tunsil and C-Rob in the past two seasons have both done this and excelled, I think this is the right move by Coach Mac if Ivey can be as good as those two.

Can Ribinson started his freshman year and was easily our best OL. Doesn't mean a thing imo

Ivey will be good but expect mistakes from a true freshman on the OL. Rule of thumb is generally you never ever want true freshmen to start at DT or the OL in this conference. There are a few rare exceptions, but not many.

#2 overall player in 2015, OT Martez Ivey.

ETA: Would have been the highest rated player to ever sign with Arkansas. Dayum.

Martez would have started day one at most teams around the country.

I wish we had individual team boards to discuss individual players for each school.

That would be cool.

What this means is young Martez is about to get skullfricked by Curt Maggitt and Derek Barnett.

I've discussed this with y'all before but I do think his age will help him as his body is more physically mature than your regular true frosh.

That said, nothing makes up for a year of genuine SEC strength and conditioning and that may hurt him some but not as much as a lot of freshmen. His technique and ability to cope with SEC game speed will come along, by midseason for sure even though I think he'll be better than most freshmen before then.

It's really an intriguing situation. I don't think there'd be as many questions if he started on the dline but the oline takes a bit more time and of course tackle is requires a lot.

Intriguing prospect at starter for sure. Not sure what it means for your OL but I suspect that as good as Martez might be coaches would prefer to bring him along if it were an option. JMO.

Martez Ivey is legit. He'll be as good as Leremy Tunsil or Cam Robinson IMO.
