And we beat UF/Auburn/LSU. The formula is the same. They're running in place, same as we are. Only we seem to run a little faster at times by making to Atlanta. Still never get off the treadmill by winning, though.

I normally don't respond to such obvious trolling bullshite, but Jesus Christ whats up with everyone's fascination with the shortcomings of UGA? I mean you'd think we were the SEC poster child the way people talk/discuss/loathe our program.

Every UGA fan with half a brain knows what kind of coach we have and what kind of program we run. I think its obvious at this point that Richt will never get us to the game, and most of us are fine with that. What the frick can we, the fans, do to improve our situation? You frickers come on here and lump us in with Richt and his attitude like we have control over any of this. We are not some kinda of fricking Hive Mind with Richt at the Helm. Every UGA Fan under the sun can't stand the way we lose games, but fricking A at this point this has been beat into the ground like a fricking railroad spike.

Do we wanna win a national title? frick ya! Have we had opportunities? frick ya! Has it happened? Nope, and while it sucks, its out of the fans control. The obsession with UGA failings in the media and fans alike is just mindboggling at this point.

WE KNOW WHO RICHT IS...my God give it a rest.

Here's a flashback that seems apropos to the weekend that was: Years ago, while trying to impress his wife, Mark Richt tumbled off a swing and injured his hip.

This was before he was hired as the head coach at the University of Georgia, and before Internet memes sprouted up to document his lack of competence; this was before Mark Richt became the Charlie Brown of college football's most competitive league, the Southeastern Conference, the kind of guy whom virtually everyone likes as a man yet no one respects as a competitor.

Some other college football coaches known for always losing one they shouldn't:

Joe Paterno won first NC after 17th year with PSU
Bobby Bowden won first NC after 18th year with FSU
Tom Osborn won first NC after 22nd year with NEB

That's not bad company to be in. That whole "always loses one he shouldn't" pretty much applies to EVERY coach. The thing about Richt though, is that he's such a graceful loser, that you don't mind seeing him get beat.

Did he say we were on that level?

He was comparing us to SC, not uf/auburn/lsu. Pay attention.

Calm down, man. I don't see most people shitting on UGA on this forum. They are just about the only team I like in the conference besides LSU. But they are a fascinating study. You'd think luck would have broken your way by now with Richt keeping them close for so long. No flame intended on my part.

the ones that yell the loudest post on message boards and call into radio shows. They can't do a damn thing to change anything.

ETA: They're also the same ones that act like we're God's gift to football when we win a big game. Way too high, way too low.

My mistake. I wasn't following the entire thread closely enough. And I'd almost argue that institutionally, Georgia is on that level. They just haven't gotten the breaks or gotten "hot" at the right time. Look at how Auburn won the West last year. That was Les Miles level voodoo right there.

Ouchy

Reading that's gotta hurt if you're a dawg fan.

And then there was that thread yesterday - about buying and selling - and now this quote:

quote:

... this is what Georgia does: They tantalize you with their potential, and then they crash amid a flood of irrational exuberance. They are, as a friend noted upon the Bulldogs' collapse Saturday evening, the closest thing college football has to a mortgage-backed security.

I have, actually, always sorta liked Richt. He's just having a hard time overcoming Jaw Jah's dog curse.

Its maddening. Some of our fan base accept it (like myself) and some scream fire Richt after every ill-timed blunder. I find I sleep better at night by accepting fate rather than fighting it. We GA fans are pretty divided on this front. Some will continually bash Richt and scream for new coaches, though there are NONE available, while others just say, "Eh, that's UGA football". Its quite comical.

UT was in this position with Fulmer, keep a coach that may get lucky every once in a while and make the SECCG while winning 9+ games a year or get someone new and risk disaster. Personally I think UT waited too long and should have canned Fulmer 2003-2005.
