LSU also has to really pray that Houston doesn't get invited into the big XII. Else they'll need to find a plan B coach, and how often do those work out?

This is a great point. If Houston gets invited he stays, if not and LSU pursues him, there's a chance.

Good news is the Big 12 coaches do not want Houston in the league.

Don't you think after the failed coup last year that Les is untouchable for a couple years? How often can you go back to the well?

Technically speaking Bama's first choice was Rich Rodriguez. Imagine how that could have played out

His buyout was $15 million when LSU tried to fire him last year. It will be less than $5 million (I think) if they fired him tomorrow.

ETA: It may be $5 million after the season, I'm not positive. Either way, it's much more cost effective due to the structure of his contract, apparently.

The failed coup was directly related to our former governor and his presidential run. Anyone who tells you otherwise, doesn't know what they're talking about.

O will be coaching this team as interim head coach by the time we play bama. He will invite kiffin over to his house after the game, and offer him OC job if he gets the job. Kiffen will likely jump at chance to get out from underneath Satan and hang out with his old buddy and coach miles Brennan. ( plus free food women and all the booze he drink in New Orleans) Preveto will be gone but Aranda will stay and we will finally see if Les was the problem.

There's a lot of contradictory info being put out there then. I've read, more than once, that the buyout is significantly lower even if they chose to fire him right now, and will be extremely low at the end of the season.

No he didn't.

He thought LSU should keep Les b/c he believed Les would be willing to swallow his pride and revamp the offense.

I'm sure hes's a possibility, if it comes down to a coaching search.

Young with energy let him hire a top OC.

I don't think Herman or Fisher will happen

The buyout is not cash guys. It is paid over terms of the contract reduced by any money he gets if he gets another coaching job. So it is actually 0 to cash value of about 3 million or about 10% of the money people wasted seeing us get killed by wisky

5 million is doable, then. There won't be the argument about "optics" to worry about.

The question is: say Les only loses one more game the rest of the way (Bama, just to get the Rantards riled up). If he wins a major bowl and has a huge recruiting class lined up, does LSU still pull the trigger?

No

Not sure 3 loses do it to be honest. 4 starts getting him in the danger zone.
