It was a successful evening for Marcus Lattimore as he made his debut on the Heathwood Hall sidelines this evening. The Highlanders took care of business against Oakwood Prep, 42-7, to hand the former Gamecocks star a victory in his first game as a head coach.

"Best part about being the head coach is you’ve got your hands in every single aspect of your program. It is not just a team, it is a program...I wouldn’t want it any other way. I don’t know where this journey will take me, but I will always be hands on. I don’t want to be the CEO type. I have to be hands on."

If y'all don't give a shite, that's perfectly fine. But there are quite a few who remember what a great guy Latti was and remains. I hope this coaching journey leads to him making his way back to South Carolina one day. That would be incredible.

It's a shame that Mike Dyer, Marcus Lattimore and Lache Seastrunk are viewed as not living up to their hype.

Mike Dyer was kicked off the team and never found his found again, Marcus Lattimore couldn't stop getting injured and Lache Seastrunk just wasn't as good as people thought.

All from the 2010 class. All 5 star players.

ETA: Marcus Lattimore is a class act. Glad to see him doing well. One of my favorite non Auburn players ever.

I always enjoyed watching him run and he seemed like an all-around great guy off the field. I wish him a long and illustrious coaching career.

I hope nothing but the best for Lattimore. That guy is all heart. I think he will do very well as a coach. I also hope he gets to coach for South Carolina one of these days. It would make for a hell of a story.

Hope Lattimore tears it up, he's a good guy. Chris Moody is the DBs coach at my old high school and has them playing good, thanks for the coach gamecocks

Big difference in Lattimore and Dyer. Lattimore's body broke down and Dyer's brain let him down.

He is a really good dude.

Several years I worked an event and we were paired together in a booth for a few hours. He was just as nice as you would you think. He is one of those guys who has earned his reputation as a good ambassador for the game and all-around good person.

Tillman would, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that he's finally one.

Oh yeah, Tillman absolutely would. He'd carry it one step further and post something horribly vile about Latti. And I'd hunt his arse down and beat it into submission. Pretty sure he's been permabanned...if 19812017 edited all of his posts, I'd swear he's a Tillman alter.

Awesome that he's getting to do something he enjoys even if he can't play.

Best of luck to Lattimore, alwaysbhate seeing a guys career cut short because of injuries.

I thought they were all going to sign with Auburn. I remember Seastrunk saying something about Nick Saban on big cat weekend lol

I'd bet he ends up at South Carolina. He needs to go ahead and get Clowney's word that his son is gonna be a Gamecock.
