Ahhhh. Football must be next this season. The backup QBs of LSU lore.

Bama qb-- short to mid range passes 5 to 15 yds. Hit 70 percent, don't turn the ball over, don't change to passing play on 3rd and one, don't try to win the game and you won't lose it, hit 2 deep balls a game, walk out with a win.
Rinse,lather, repeat

Reading the pro scouts think Austin Allen is the most NFL ready QB.

More pro ready than Dobbs? And Kelly?

No way

Cooper Bateman's short to midrange was great. Ball unravels when he throws a deep ball. Really struggled with longer throws. Brandon Harris was "bad", several coaches described his performance as "lazy." Dobbs, Kelly, and Knight were the best SEC QBs there "by far."

I posted in a few other threads about this...after what I saw at the Air It Out exhibition I would rank them

Kelly
Dobbs
Knight
Allen

Bateman

Harris

So how would you rank Deshaun Watson? He went 1-3 with hitting golf carts just like Harris did. Is he trash too?

Not surprising. He's not a very motivated individual.

I'm really hoping Etling has some game, I think he'll be needed.

Great thread, because Manning Camp is the very best predictor of a qbs performance.

Cooper will be terrible.

He still hasn't learned how to have touch on his passes. Every throw is like a 100mph fastball. Won't be that successful if he does that in games.

Good thing he hasn't been named the starter yet

I have zero confidence in Bateman.

So now all of a sudden, throwing to high school receivers and moving targets on a cart in shorts and t shirts are a great predictor of what kind of season one will have. You people are unreal.

Only if it's an opportunity to bash an LSU player. Otherwise you would never see it.

According to Phil Savage, and a couple of others who were at the camp:

Cooper Bateman's short to midrange was great. Ball unravels when he throws a deep ball. Really struggled with longer throws.

Brandon Harris was "bad", several coaches described his performance as "lazy."

Dobbs, Kelly, and Knight were the best SEC QBs there "by far."

What did you listen to? First, the words that you have in quotes were never spoken by Phil Steele. Second, Steele only saw the QB competition not the entire camp.

In terms of Dobbs, he said he is a good college QB. He said that he is a dual-threat QB that needs to continue to develop his passing. He says that he might be just a little behind Dak Prescott's ("the ultimate SEC dual-threat QB in recent years") path at this point.

In terms of Harris, he never said "bad" or "lazy". He says he has good size and a strong arm but you wonder about his accuracy. He said there is a lot of talent but he does not have control of where the ball is going.

All he said about Kelly is that "he has the arm to get a look [for the Senior Bowl]".

And he did say that Bateman's passes beyond 25 yards seem to fall apart for some reason and that he really struggles with throws greater than 20 yards.

These are the same things that we all know based on last season. I could have done the same podcast without even attending the camp.

Another LSU QB grossly overrated by the LSU fan base.

In other news, water is still wet.
