No that's correct. Miles won the west his first year in '05, played UGA in atlanta.

If CGM can get his team to play hard for 60 min AU will be much improved.
It will be untrusting to see how many players make it through spring ball.

Malzahn will be fine. He wrote the book on the hurry-up, no-huddle.
The hunh is an exciting, "fast and furious" offensive system that allows coaches at any level to speed up the game and lengthen the amount of actual playing time, while mentally and physically wearing down the opponent.
Gus Malzahn was the head coach at Springdale High School, which is one of the most tradition-rich programs in the state of Arkansas. In his first season at Springdale, his 2001 Bulldogs broke 12 offensive school record, and in 2002 he led them to the state championship game.
Malzahn began his coaching career in 1991 at Hughes High School. In 1994, he led the Blue Devils to the state finals, which had been their only appearance in school history.
In 1996, he took the head coaching job at Shiloh Christian High School in Springdale, Arkansas. His compiled record at Shiloh was 63-7-1. In 1997, he implemented the hurry-up, no-huddle philosophy into his offense. For the next four years, the Shiloh Offense was one of the nation’s top yardage producers, averaging almost 7,000 yards per season. Coach Malzahn took Shiloh to four state title appearances and two state championships. Two of his quarterbacks set national records, and in 2000, his team ranked as high as 11 on the ESPN.com National High School Football Ranking.

Actually CHF wrote the book on the uptempo back when it hit the hardwood. You boys had no idea it existed when he was coaching his daughter in the 5 year old championships. Press press press force turnovers. Football on hardwood. basketball on grass. its interchangeable

i don't think that's right. didn't arkansas win the west that year? and play florida in the SEC championship game?
The "SEC West champions" refers to 2005, when LSU lost to UGA in the SECCG.

Kodi Burns is an electrifying quarterback that can beat you with his arm and legs. Kodi Burns is ultra quick in the pocket and virtually impossible to stop in a one on one situation. Kodi Burns is the type of quarterback that can put so much pressure on a defense because of his ability to make a play outside of the pocket. Kodi Burns is also a good passer that shows all the throws. Kodi Burns is a "Michael Vick" type of signal caller and very exciting to watch.

He is putting together a heck of a staff, I don't think he will be the failure everyone is predicting. They will have great players and even though I hate his offensive scheme they will put up points. The right dc and they could be very dangerous

AU in much better shape then they were in 2009. The offensive syetem does not have to start from scratch and there will be three QBs on campus that have better arms than Todd. I think the defense is in better hands then in 2009 with more talent a most positions.
Overall, we are in better shape than in 2009 as a program, but it is not a huge difference overall IMO.
Depth is a lot better. Tubs left us with a totally depleted roster and less than 70 scholarship players after all the non-qualifiers and dropouts. It was like we were coming off a 3 year probation. Chiz and co did a great job rebuilding the roster.
Offense is better off than 2009 by a good bit. Familiarity with Malzhan and his offense is already there.
Defense is worse off. Tubs taught defense, players were fundamentally sound and mentally and physically tough and prepared. We are 0-3 in those key defensive aspects right now.
Overall team mental toughness and discipline has to be learned again as well.
So, I think we are in better shape as a whole, but not by a ton. Gus has his work cut out and I am still not confident we made the right call with the hire.

Great writing job here. He show's how every coach did well in their second year, but says Malzahn can't do it

He definitely isn't better than Les, Nick, or Kevin. He may not even be better than Mark, Bret, Hugh or Dan. That is 7 guys on his schedule every single season he will not have a winning record against.

Hey Dorothy! We ain't in Kansas anymore.
This is "big boy" football now.

Auburn can't do worse than this year, literally. Can't.
They went to OT against ULM. 2-10 was a very real possibility this season so it can get worse.
Having said that, Gus is a far better coach than Chiz. He'll have them back to 7-8 win seasons pretty quickly. The real question is can he get over that hump without a Cam.

Todd would be starting for AU if he was still there.
Todd >>> Frazier, Wallace, Moseley, Johnson
But hey, AU's new coach led one of his old teams to #11 on the espn.com HS rankings. So, war damn anyways.

Todd could not throw with any strength more than 15 yards down field (shoulder injury).Ds would have all their defenders within 10 yrds of the LOS. Todd had a better grip on the offense, but everyone except Wallace has played in the system. Only big difference in 2009 and 2013 will be the RBs. Tate was the only real weopon AU had in 2009, but Mason could fill that role in Gus's System.
On defense the biggest difference is at LB. AUs secondary will be much better in 2013 than 2009. The key to AU will be S&C.

I'd rather have Todd than any of those QBs.
