Coach O will definitely have a winning record at LSU, IMHO, but that's not the point of this thread.

This hire is a tacit admission that LSU is keeping their powder dry until the day that Saban retires. In a sense, Coach O remains an "interim head coach" at LSU.

IMHO, here's the LSU plan: once Saban is gone, LSU will review Coach O's performance and, if an upgrade is available, go for it and spend the money.

Neither Herman nor Jimbo were going to waltz into Baton Rouge and start beating Nick Saban. Herman and Jimbo knew it. I knew it. You all knew it. SO, why shoot your wad now? Keep Coach O as the Permanent Interim Head Coach and wait for Saban to retire, because nobody is going to take the reins in Baton Rouge and coach up a team that can beat Saban.

So, keep your powder dry, LSU. Don't waste your resources on an attempt to climb a mountain that's impossible to conquer. This is a reasonable approach to the Saban Problem.

I think Auburn is the same boat. Stay with you he 8-4 coach until he retires.

They're hoping to hire Saban back in a few years so he can retire at the school that he built. Seriously. I have sources.

Yeah, let's all wait to compete with Bama for a HC.

Hehe. Yep, let's compare support staff budgets and see where the top guy wants to go.

LSU were the last ones to acquiesce. AU before that. Now it's over. SEC belongs to Saban.

LSU had me concerned, but after the O hiring , that went away.

Ya know, I kinda agree with you here.

This hire keeps LSU from hiring a ridiculously expensive coach that may need to be bought out down the road for some handsome sum. If, in 3 years O isn't the man, you will not only have hopefully saved up some coin to spend on the HC and all the coordinators, but will not be behind the 8 ball financially.

After the last 4 years, it is unlikely that any team will usurp Lord Saban.

See, F. King does know what he is doing

Should've hired Dabo. Other than against Spurrier's SC teams, he pretty much has shite from every SEC team on his dick.

You know you're giving our administration entirely too much credit, but I like your line of thinking
