I talked to an LSU friend of mine a while back and he said that they schedule a lot of home games because the Tigers play so poorly on the road. I didn't believe him at first, then I remembered that we swept them at our place and they didn't really put up a fight. So maybe he is right?

Remind me what school the thread is concerned with? It should be in the subject line.

LSU draws thousands to crappy midweek games.

So does SC/Ark and many many others.

Terrible argument.

If Arkansas was selling thousands of tickets (season and individual) for a Wens night game against Middle of Nowhere State, they would do the same thing.

They do genius.

2012 LSU BASEBALL
Northwestern State at #10 LSU
Mar 14, 2012 at Baton Rouge, La. (Alex Box Stadium)
Actual Attendance: 3,838

2012 Arkansas Baseball
Gonzaga at #4 Arkansas
Mar 13, 2012 at Fayetteville, Ark. (Baum Stadium)
Actual Attendance: 4,436

2012 LSU BASEBALL
Grambling State at #13 LSU
Feb 28, 2012 at Baton Rouge, La. (Alex Box Stadium)
Actual Attendance: 2,660

2012 LSU BASEBALL
Southern at #8 LSU
Mar 20, 2012 at Baton Rouge, La. (Alex Box Stadium)
Actual Attendance: 1,787

LSU draws as shitty as any one else for shitty midweek games.

The real difference scheduling wise, is that Arkansas always plays in a solid tournament somewhere. Played inside Minute Maid last year for the Houston College Classic with teams like Texas and Rice.

This year play in the Coca Cola Classic hosted by Arizona State in Surprise, AZ and play AZ State twice in it.

LSU chooses to stay home and play cupcakes.

Kind of reminds me of basketball, some teams play in tournaments in the OOC, and some don't. Usually the better teams play in tournaments though, or if not, schedule some tough OOC games both home and away.

I think LSU just likes padding their attendance stats and doesn't care that they have one of the weakest OOC's in all of college baseball because of it. They want their record and attendance numbers to look as good as possible regardless of the teams they play, imagine that shite flying in football.

Ironic coming from a Hog fan who can't stop talking about LSU...

Anyway, I (and quite a few others) have already addressed the topic at hand. The answer is money. We like to make money, and playing more home games allows us to make more money. It's really pretty simple. You all can do it, too, if you want.

No, the money does.

I was just relaying what my LSU friend told me in my original post. I understand LSU probably just does it for the money. Why else would your stadium have tacky advertisements all over your outfield wall?

If you already understand we do it for the money, why make the flame post in the first place?

Yep, pretty much.

LSU couldn't do what they do in say football or basketball, but they can get away with it in baseball because it isn't mainstream and no one really cares.

LSU football or basketball playing nothing but home games and cupcakes in football or basketball would cause quite a stir, in the media, and in basketball would kill their RPI/SOS come NCAAT selection time.

Baseball, no one is going to really bitch or complain because it isn't covered so they can schedule 50 home games and OOC patsy's all they want.

LSU is actually the only team in the SEC that doesn't even leave its own state for an OOC game. Again, no one is going to say shite, because it's college baseball, it's just pathetic on your part.

Did you interpret my post as a flame? I don't post anything that is untrue just to get a rise out of people. I was simply relaying my friends comments on the matter. He is pretty close to Manieri and he told me that your coach doesn't wanna risk losing lots of games on the road hence the predominant home schedule.

First you post that poor road performance might be the issue, then you admit later that you understand money is the reason we schedule so many home games. First, it doesn't have to be untrue to be intended to get a rise out of people. Second, why post anything you don't think is true anyway, regardless of your alleged motive? In a thread like this, there is really no other way to interpret it than as a flame, especially when you follow it up with obvious flames about Stony Brook and outfield advertisements.

I honestly don't even believe that this "friend" exists.

I said money is PROBABLY a reason. Based on what I've heard it might be a way to pad your win column. Who knows for sure? Only those within the LSU program know why their own schedule is routinely easy.

Do you really think there is a chance that money is NOT a reason?

Then your "friend" doesn't know, either.

Why not just admit you were flaming? It obviously worked.

Anything is possible. I believe LSU gets its wins where it can. They know it's hard to even win one game in Fayetteville. And a true master troll takes no credit for his work...

One reason money is a good explanation for the many home games is that LSU sees that Arkansas is making so much money from our foul pole to foul pole suites. LSU's stadium has nowhere near the number of boxes or chairbacks that Baum does so LSU attempts to offset this revenue disparity with more home games. Just an idea.
