The ROI on Saban is going to run out in a few years if he doesn't win a title.

It's the first game of the season.... on the road. Do you honestly think LSU will play like that ALL YEAR??? I promise you LSU will move up in those rankings.

What does happen to an Alabama player who shoves a ref. Ever heard of two personal fouls called on the same player within 3 secs before???

All we heard all summer was how awesome it was going to be.

In all fairness, that's all that we (LSU fans) heard this spring and summer too! Every article or player quote we read was how different the D would be this year. How it would be like the D of old. So, when you read it and see it for 6 months straight, you sort of start to believe it. Stupid me!!

I'm just curious as to when this awesomeness is going to show itself.

You and me both! I felt like I was reliving the 2008 season all over again Saturday night. That performance was pathetic. I'm not one for excuses but I think we're looking at another 8-5 season again. I hope like hell that I'm wrong.

ETA: I'm not flameworthy but just felt like offering my 2 cents anyway

Just exactly.. how many games do you think it will be before Lsu's defense doesn't suck?
How many games did it take Saban to implement his D? I sure don't remember bama having a shut down D back in 2007. It will be a work in progress all season but hopefully the offense can keep scoring more points than we give up. Our D gave up a ton of yards but the bottom line is they only gave up 16 points when it mattered. (7 were in garbage time and aided by a BS roughing the passer call). We have playmakers on D that will cause turnovers and negative plays but we have not geled as a solid unit. The good news is we don't face a high powered offense until UF on Oct. 10 so we have 4 more games to get better. And the other good news is we have the firepower on offense to hang with just about anybody even if our D gives up some points. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. It's a long season.

Unsportsmanlike penalty?

Nope and still haven't. One was a personal, the other unsportsmanlike. At least get it right.

It was a long off season and coming off a disappointing season, it's easy to buy into excitement. Being honest, Washingtons QB did a helluva job and I expect yalls D to improve. The third down thing though... Chavis does not have a good track record, but hopefully for yall, the athleticism will make up for it some.

If that happens.... Les does need to be run, there will be no excuse for that. I can't see more than 3 in yalls future, max. Yall oughtta be a lock for 10 this season unless some injury happens.

ALAHUNTER = 12 year old kid with a keyboard. (At least I hope thats what it is. If that person is an adult its sad. I have suggested before that hunter try to get a job covering his team. Hell as much as he or she posts on here at least he/she should get paid for it.

He's gone with another 5 loss season. We've got the talent to be top-10 every single year.. and we'd have to find a coach who can continue that trend. You don't have to be a great recruiter to recruit this state..

I just can't see this happening, unless he loses control of the team and he's done nothing for that to happen. If/when Les leaves, it will be to go to his alma mater, I think.

meh, it wasn't pretty, but I saw a lot that Alabama, Ole Miss, and LSU need to work out if any are going to win the west. If not Auburn might take it.

Washington was definitely tougher than anyone expected. Locker, along with Polk (RB), performed really well. But the basic stuff like missing tackles, DE's not keeping contain, & corners not getting off of WR's blocks just reminded me too much of last year. It was so frustrating to watch.

If the coaches can get some of the fundamentals corrected, then maybe our athleticism will show. If that's the case, then I could see the D of old possibly starting to show a little.

Yeah you're right. There is too much talent to have another underachieving season if there are no major injuries.

Julio was double covered all night long. The attention the defense paid him freed up Hanks and Maze for their deep balls and Peek was free to roam the middle of the field all night long. I can remember only one pass Julio dropped on that 3rd and 1. Not to mention that Alabama only completed 15 passes, so Julio caught almost 1/3 of the catches.
