Our AD said the field will look the same as all other weeks becaus we have another home game next week. If it wouldn't be for that he said they would have possibly painted the entire field as if it was SC's field.

I wonder if there will be any field art at all. I'd be surprised if they touched up the LSU effects of the field.

What difference does that make?
I guess LSU gets to call the coin toss?

LSU will be on the away sideline, which is not in the shade for 2:30 games.

Personally, I think its classy, but their whites look much better, so I admire the sacrifice even more because of that.

Are there any superstitions associated with the different color LSU uniforms?

Lenny Trill could look good in purple under the lights.

Bear Bryant used to put alabama in the sun, because God shines down on Bama.
Not one of the Bears smartest decisions.

When students lived in Tiger Stadium (long story but it's true), they used to stand above the visitor's entrance and tigerbait teams coming in for their Friday walk through. Most teams ran into the locker room as quickly as possible but Bear made his team stand there and look up at them. Eventually the students got tired and stopped chanting, then he let the team go into the visitor locker room. That's why Bear was the goat right there

I heard this wasn't the case. Did it change?

Think LSU will write something in the endzone about the flooding like ASU did back during Katrina? Not sure how big an undertaking that would be.

Alleva already announced that "we won't be able to do that".

What are the other teams that wear white at home?

Georgia Tech and sometimes UCLA, that I know of. Several teams do it now as a novelty every once in a while.

Ironically enough it sounds like we were planning on wearing white at home for the LSU game anyway.

Traditionally, yes. Purple jerseys were associated with bad luck, especially in the McClendon era in the 1960s and 70s, before the NCAA mandated dark jerseys for the home team. That superstition has largely died away and the purple jerseys are now worn generally in non conference home games, except home opener.

I'm a big history nerd and remember reading the article that came out recently about hidden 'history' in some stadiums including the old dorms in yalls stadium. I think it's awesome. Any pictures exist of what they look like today? Apparently some traces can still be seen

Nobody is allowed in there anymore because the old dorms have asbestos and the AD has decided it's too expensive to clean it out at the moment, but if you're ever on the northside of tiger stadium you can see the windows of the old dorms.

The story is that Huey Long wanted to expand Tiger Stadium back in the 40's but the legislature wanted to build new dorms so Huey's solution was to build dorms into the stadium. Students lived there until the late 80's.

Long was assassinated in 1935. Apparently it was the LSU Athletic Director who persuaded the president of LSU in 1931 to use money set aside for dorms to expand the stadium by incorporating the dorms into the stadium. Popular lore attributes this move to Long. It wouldn't surprise me to know that Long approved, but he isn't the one actually responsible.

I think you are right about what happened, but wrong about the timing. It was earlier than the 1940s because, as pointed out, he was assassinated in the 1930s. The stadium was originally built in 1924 or so, I think, so that might have been a little early for him, so it might have been an early expansion sometime in the late 20s or early 30s.
