LSU will wear purple uniforms at home because South Carolina had already declared the game as a 'white-out.' The last time the Tigers wore purple in an SEC game at Tiger Stadium was Nov. 5, 1994 in a 35-17 loss to Alabama.

LSU has been very hospitable.

There's also something really interesting about 1994 and SC vs LSU.

True however if they tried to demand home uniform choice they would have looked like massive dicks.

The backstory is that from 1983-1994 the NCAA had a rule mandating that the home team wear dark colored jerseys and the road team light colored ones. This didn't affect most teams as it was mostly done that way anyway, but there were a small handful of schools that traditionally wore white at home (LSU being one of them).

The NCAA changed the rule in 1995 to allow the home team to wear what they wanted if the visiting team gave permission. The SEC took it a step farther in 1997, giving the home team choice of uniforms and the visiting team being required to wear the opposite.

The subject stat is wrong. We wore them vs Mississippi State in 2007. This is the first time we've worn them at home in a while.

LSU has been all class for this situation with the planes being chartered back and forth to get South Carolina and the band playing their songs. Nice gestures Tigers

Think LSU will write something in the endzone about the flooding like ASU did back during Katrina? Not sure how big an undertaking that would be.

directly because of Gerry Dinardo's lobbying efforts.

Spurrier, the needler that he is/was, started requesting to wear white when LSU came to the Swamp. LSU choosing to wear purple is a direct nod to those days and to the fact this is very likely the last time LSU will face a Spurrier coached team.
