Les Miles joined LSU in 2005. Since then, they are #5 in win percentage in cfb. They have gone 110-31 over that 10 1/2 season period... The best record in the SEC... And by FAR their best stretch IN HISTORY.

Honestly, when conducting a hiring process, how in the hell do you expect a coach to come in and replace that?

LSU fans now have the same problem as UGA fans. Your coach is very good, but just unfortunate enough to have coached in the SEC in one of the golden era's of the conference, when there were multiple head coaches all coaching at the same time that will be in the HOF.

Beware the mistake that Tennessee made... You just don't run off your best coach in history...

Yeah well it just didn't work out with your predecessor strictly going by the numbers he was the best we ever had, but that isn't going to cut it.

Well I mean... half your fan base wants him fired. Maybe more than half. Seems like a bad idea to me... so what he lost to Alabama? Florida's gonna do that to in a few weeks, it happens.

We didn't. He went to the NFL and is now at Alabama.

many know this and would still gladly see Miles go

The main argument during the past 5 years under Miles has been "who out there is a better replacement?" And, for the first time, there are a few candidates that could be potentially better.

Regardless, the main issue is losing the recruiting hold the Les Miles and his stellar staff have. That is the kicker.

We get it, everyone except LSU fans wants Les to stay. Who wouldn't, it allows a W against a ranked team yearly for most CFP contenders in this conference and a good chuckle most years, when they lose to a much crappier/less talented team. The fact is, with all the talent you can bring into Baton Rouge, there is no excuse to not at least contend for a conference championship. Losses to Bama are more than understandable, its the frequent losses to lesser opponents, and near losses to OOC teams. LSU has been winning on talent alone, and now more teams are loading up and parity is higher than ever. It now takes good talent and a great coach to compete for NC.

The fact that EVERY other fanbase in the conference hopes that Miles stays at LSU forever speaks volumes.

The mistake Tennessee and Texas made was they waited TOO LONG to make a change, which resulted in the program dipping even further and making the next guy's situation much tougher than it would have been a few years prior.

Still wonder why people think you cant replace a good coach with another good coach.

Saban -> Miles

Plenty of other schools have done the same throughout history.

I'm not advocating we fire Miles right now, I think that's silly. But I also think folks are just as silly to think LSU couldnt draw another elite coach. It certainly couldnt work out, but it certainly also could. Les has his glaring issues. I'm not willing to fire guy for the accomplishments he ahs to this point, but if this year finishes bad, and next year is no better and we lose to Alabama and Arkansas AGAIN, it's certainly time to re-think things because the program is not what it once was recently at that point.

But I mean, come on, lets be real. It's not like things are in panic mode right now... LSU has the #1 or #2 recruiting class in the country right now, and has been top 5 over and over.

The cupboard isn't exactly bare - and it doesn't look like it will be bare.

All this talk of firing Les is stupid.

We are enjoying a great run of success and I can't imagine if a coach comes in and replicates just moderate success. We fire Les and the next guy doesn't recruit like he does. What happens then?

Yes it pisses me off losing to Bama 5 times in a row, but I also don't want to jump off the cliff and lose to everyone because of that.
