The secondary looks to have some stars in it. The interceptions on Saturday night were really good plays and we were missing RR. Also, the coaches have said that Jamal Adams is awesome (but it was just his first game as a true freshman).

LBs looks about the same (unimpressive), but Kwon looks much better and could make a difference.

The D-line did not play well against Wisconsin for most of the game, but we were missing some guys in our rotation. Hunter shows flashes at times...same with Rasco - he finished the season well last year with with a bunch of tackles and a forced fumble/recovery in the last regular season game along with four tackles and two batted down passes against Iowa in the bowl win. That's the unit we really need to see consistency from. I don't know enough about the new guys yet on the D-line.

So it's a little early to say at this point since we had a few guy's missing. If the DL doesn't play better than they played for most of the game, it will be about the same or not as good as last year. If they step it up, it could be a very tough D to face.

Sure but Gordon only got two of those touches, if I'm not mistaken. Again, this is more or less inexplicable on the part of UW.

But I also give credit to our front seven for finally buckling down and stuffing Gordon a couple times.

This is my biggest question. Where the hell was Frank Herron?

Why? It is true. We stuffed Gordon twice and they sidelined him. If you think this is LSU "shutting it down" then I don't know what to tell you. Seems like UW got away from their gameplan, and started playing to our strengths, instead.

But see it however you want to see it. P&G glasses, and all that. I already said I give credit to LSU for stopping Gordon. Just figured we'd have to do it more than twice. Thanks to Gary Anderson for the assist on that score.

Two rumors:

1. Gordon was hurt on the long run in the 3rd

2. Gordon got into it with his position coach and got benched

Have heard this one. But I think Gordon said he was fine after the game?

Have heard he is not the most "coachable" player, so this wouldn't surprise me. Even still, it doesn't make a whole lot of sense to start chewing out the best player on your team who is the primary reason you are winning the game. If the position coach benched him, that position coach should probably be fired.

Yeah, I think he may have gotten injured because they were kicking our azzes and he was running all over us. I'm not sure what there would have been to fight about.

Coaches and players are ridiculously sensitive about reporting injuries these days. Half the time they just deny any injuries and then you hear about the issues after the season. The reporter should have said, "So your coaches are just morons then for not giving you the ball, right?"

This is patently wrong. Another poster covered this best so I'll quote him here:
quote:

He got the first carry of the half and went for 63 yards. Then he got a 4 yarder and a 3 yarder. That's it before we took the lead. So to repeat, Gordon gets 2 carries between them going up 24-7 and us taking the lead 28-24.

We never really stopped their running game. Fortunately, their coaches did that for us.

That's Wisconsins only 3 drives in the 4th quarter. Two of which came while Wisconsin was trailing by 4.

again, wisc tried to run between the tackles in the 2nd half and it failed miserably. it wouldn't have mattered who they were handing off to. watch the 2nd half again.

good grief. watch the 2nd half again. after Gordon's long run on the first drive, they got nothing between the tackles. why is this so hard to understand?

If we play like second half LSU the rest of the season, yes.

If we play like first half LSU the rest of the season no.

the secondary is sick thought.

@BadgerFootball: Melvin Gordon: My hip injury happened on my last run before halftime. I was ready to go, but they were looking out for what's best for me.

We didn't play Herron because someone jumped him, we played a total of 3 DTs, we obviously NEVER want to do that unless forced to.

The LSU D looked very very fast to me. The secondary closes quickly and hits hard.

They look a touch weak in the Dline.

Will still be stout as hell. Can't wait for the TAMU/LSU game

The secondary is an embarrassment of riches. Talented and deep. There will be backups on this squad who get drafted and make NFL rosters, like Ron Brooks did in 2012 (4th round).

The linebackers will be better than last year, though not a great group overall.

Defensive tackle was the biggest question mark before the game, and it's the biggest question mark now. Out of our three best DTs, one didn't play because of a suspension, and another started and played with a torn bicep (the docs have cleared him to play through the pain). Out of our next two DTs, one was suspended for the game and the other played as a true freshman. So, we didn't get very good play from the DTs, but it's hard to know how they will play as the season goes on.

Our DEs are lean and built to rush the passer more than to stop the run.

Bottom line: nobody is throwing the ball on us this year, but real concerns remain about our ability to stop the run. To have a chance to make the playoff, I'm less worried about passing teams like A&M and more worried about Alabama and Georgia (assuming that we met them in the title game).
