It was before instant replay. They scored on 4th down late in the game. Replays showed the runner's knee down before the ball crossed the goal line.

It's funny how LSU fans bring this up. None of whom must have been there or actually watched the game. If there had been replay, state would have won it the play before. There would not have been a fourth down. Replays clearly showed the player crossed the goal line on third down. Even the announcers at the time confirmed it. Stop trying to take away our one when in two decades!

This is getting pathetic. I've never seen a team and fanbase like LSU that defines themselves by other fans' opinions. They need validation from all of us, especially Alabama.

I watched it. I remember the 4th down play. Don't remember 3rd down. Also don't remember the toefield play some are talking about.

it was 15 years ago...i can't remember half of the blowout wins we have had since. I just remember it was a controversial ending.

I remember thinking it was a makeup call for the blown call on 3rd down.

And yes, I remember Toefield's score - it was a gift.

shite happens, calls go for you, calls go against you. Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug. You can't blame wins and losses on blown calls, because once you go down that rabbit hole, you'll find yourself right back where you started.

I guess you could say that MS ST beating LSU is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Since 1999, LSU has averaged 39 points against Mississippi State overall. At home, LSU has also averaged 39 points against Mississippi State. LSU has scored more than 40 points 7 times since 1999, and has scored less than 30 points only twice, and scoring less than 20 only once.

Since 1999, Mississippi State has averaged 13 points against LSU. In Baton Rouge, Mississippi State has averaged almost 17 points.

Thus, my prediction:

MSU: 17
LSU: 48

Actually a pretty amazing stat given State and Ole Miss are so similar.
