This is always the great under-rated game in the SEC. I look forward to it every year. It;s usually clean and comes down to the end.

This will be a big time SEC night game atmosphere in Tiger Stadium and the place will be rocking. I can't wait.

Florida's offense isn't good. And our run D hasn't seen anything like Fournette and that O line.

I'm scared.

You were completely respectful. To be honest I have the warm fuzzies thinking that we're at 2 pages and there hasn't been a single troll so far.

But brah...Hurd=/=Fournette. Not even close. The part that makes LSU fans confident about the game is that we realize that in saying what I said about Hurd and Fournette there's not a single ounce of disrespect for Jalen Hurd in that statement.

Our OL is much, much better than Tennessee's as well. I think that we will open some eyes Saturday in regards to that.

This type of game was the way LSU/UF is meant to be. A battle of 2 top 10 team. I love y'all's defense

Will stacking the box work against y'all?

If our starting FB wasn't out, the answer would be straight up No. We'd still pound it up the middle over and over and eventually LF gets those long 30+ runs.
That being said, we'll run on y'all anyway. We'll incorporate a PA pass game, (not much of one, but the threat is there technically) some read option, designed QB runs, and still plenty of pounding it up the middle. However the latter won't be as successful without Moore, who has been blocking like nobody's business this year. It has certainly leveled the playing field.

Correct my if I'm wrong but I heard y'all will be in a 4-2-5 Nickle for much of the game due to lack of LB depth. Is this true? While this would certainly work against OM who couldn't run the ball to save their lives, I have to think while it will help shut diwn our pass, unless there is some very creative run blitzing y'all won't be stopping LF very well without three LBs coming up to fill the gaps.

Eta: Realized I never said how looking forward I am to this matchup. Going to be a great one, like it should be. And this is the best thread that's been on tRant in a long while.

Good analysis Funk.

This will be an interesting game for all SEC fans.

Key Matchup:
LF vs. a really good DL. But, 2 of UF's 3 starting LB's are suspect.

Environment:
How will a bunch of freshman handle their first true intimidating environment? Will Grier show he is Mr. cool or Mr. Frozen by Fear?

LSU D-Line:
Will LSU's D-Line exploit UF's youth at OL?

Coaching:
The Hat knows he has a secret weapon that he hasn't had to use. Will he just go about LSU business and run LF all day? The QB is better than people think or know. Will the Hat outsmart the Gator D coaching by using the Hobbs example as a model and have Harris carry the ball? I think this is a key idea. If he does, will it work with the Gator D so focused on LF? Watch for this. It could backfire also.

Conclusion:
I think the Gators come back to earth this week. They will learn from the experience and end up winning the East. But, they will be humbled by LSU. Coach Butter Teeth will be relieved that they finally have a loss to temper expectations, and he will still be a hero in Gainesville.

Not trying to speak for Gator fans, but I've been hearing they're going with 5 linemen and bringing some of their sturdier safeties up to fill the gaps.

The trick will be if LSU can beat UF's DBs in man coverage. If they can, UF will not be able to stack the box. If UF can cover LSU WRs, they may be able to contain #7.

As is typical of a Les Miles offense, the key is stopping LSU from getting 1st downs in the 1st half. If UF can bottle up the receivers and get LSU to go 3-and-out early, they have a chance.

On the other side, LSU's defense seems to give up at least one big play per game - as does their ST. They have not allowed an offense to go over 300 yards yet, but the big plays have allowed teams to stick around.

Florida's offense is dependent on Will Grier and the receivers playing well. He's a freshman so it's a lot to expect out of him, but he basically needs to keep the chains moving with his arm and legs for UF's offense to be effective most of the time.

Young o-line has been surprisingly good a pass pro against some really good d-lines so far, but is not good at run blocking and Kelvin Taylor is a decent back but doesn't have gamebreaking speed. We'll get a few well-blocked run plays here and there but most of our rushes only gain a few yards. The freshmen just aren't physically developed enough to get the kind of consistent push we need in the run game.

Defensively, when we've had our full complement of players in the secondary (VH3, Tabor, Keanu Neal, Marcus Maye, Quincy Wilson), they've been lock down as expected. D-line might be best in the nation and is deep. Biggest concern is linebacker. We've basically got two healthy guys, who have been beasting but I think we've had some favorable matchups the last couple of weeks.

I will say even though I do think LSU wins a close game something like 28-21 or 28-17, I can promise that UF will show up and be ready to play. Coach Mac has proven that no matter what his team will play hard.

I expect a great game and a great atmosphere.

Watch Bama in one game. They rotate in 8 that will all play on Sundays.

I think people are reaching to find the match up that will win this game.

They outcome is going to be decided by the following matchups:

Greir vs Death Valley
LF vs UF D

ETA: My prediction is LSU 27 - UF 20

If it was in the swamp I would have UF winning.
