Vanderbilt says hello... wait a minute they were not good though nevermind.
As your fellow LSU fans have pointed out in this thread, injuries can make your defense look a lot worse than it is. we were a depleted team against Vandy. Our defense is much better than what we showed against them due to injuries.

Your QB should have had 5-6 interceptions in the vanderbilt game. 2-3 of those should have been returned for TD's if vandy could catch.
We won't drop those

Because turnovers create themselves, and also forcing long field goals has nothing to do with defense

If I come on here and post a thread that says, "Arkansas' defense is still a question mark. We've had to deal with tons of in juries."
Do you think anyone, specifically LSU fans, would be willing to concede that point? Of course not.

You've failed to comprehend any of this.

You can't find an Arkansas defense/LSU Offense thread that doesn't throw out the number of points we surrendered to Bama, A&M, etc, etc. Are you new here? Have you not seen that?

To special people. It's okay. We're all proud that you figured out a computer.

I think Chief has the players to run his ideal defense. And when you look at the depth chart, it ain't a one-year deal:
Defensive End
KeKe Mingo - So.
Defensive Tackle
Bennie Logan - So.
Defensive Tackle
Michael Brockers - So.
Defensive End
Sam Montgomery - So.
Weakside Linebacker (WILL)
Ryan Baker - Sr.
Middle Linebacker (MIKE)
Kevin Minter - So.
Strongside Linebacker (SAM)
Stefoin Francois - Sr.
Cornerback
Mo Claiborne - Jr. (gone after this year)
Free Safety
Eric Reid - So.
Strong Safety
Brandon Taylor - Sr.
Cornerback
Tyrann Mathieu - So.
Other valuable contributors:
Tharold Simon - So.
Craig Loston - So.
Ron Brooks - Sr.
Anthony Johnson - Fr.
Josh Downs - Jr.
Four Seniors and one Junior, who'll go first round this year (Claiborne).
Those valuable contributors are the ones that step in when someone goes down or gets suspended and then they make the plays.
LSU has recruited well for Chief's defense scheme. Louisiana is a state with plenty of quality athletes to run a speed defense. Chief has put these guys in positions to succeed.

Instead of calling me names (true sign of ignorance), would you mind telling me WHY you think my premise is wrong? You're the only one that's giving me a hard time about it. That should tell you something.
Is your whole point that I shouldn't start one thread about LSU's defense and then turn it into a discussion about Arkansas' defense? Really? Thanks for the advice thread police, but it's my thread. I'll make observations based on the responses. Don't like it, shut up and move on.

Didn't read the whole thread, but in my opinion it is Crowton being gone.
Our defense doesn't have to stay on the field the whole fricking game and get worn out. They also score in clutch times and give the defense momentum.
Second I think is Brad Wing. He routinely pins opponents offenses inside the 10.

We had serious talent last year on defense as well, minus Hatcher at safety. We just couldn't keep momentum like this year.
Also of course having Big Sam back and another year of experience for our DB's is huge.

Our defense was really good last year, but we lacked really good edge rushing, and Taylor getting nicked at the end of the year was really big. He is still a little under appreciated. Also, most of the key players are in their second or third year now and just continue to make strides. Eric Reid is a monster.

Seriously, dude. Not one frick could be given about someone veering off topic. I imagine that the majority of threads on this board go off topic eventually.
Would you feel better if I edited the original post to include some mention of Arkansas so that no one else comes in here and sees any mention of any other team?
Or should I start ANOTHER thread, linking this one, to discuss my premise? Which one would satisfy your ridiculous notion of proper board etiquette?

There's no one reason why we are so much better. The OP is trying to make a point that Arkansas' defense is better than we think because they were decimated with injuries early in the year. Unfortunately, injuries are about 10% of the reason we are better. But every LSU fan has hit the nail on the head. Let me attempt to summarize:
1. Better offensive identity resulting in huge TOP favoring LSU
2. Special teams. 6 punt return yards on 40+ punts. Average starting field position is +15 yards LSU
3. 10-man DL. deepest in the nation. All equally talented for the most part
4. More experienced secondary. Eric Reid's development into the best safety in the nation. Mo Claiborne/Honey Badger superior athletes
5. One more year in Chavis' scheme.
6. Fundamental tackling--we do not give up big plays.

The Arkansas D vs the MSU O looked like a battle of ineptitude to me.

Pretty much. Not saying we're great. But we're not as horrible as we appear going off of stats. If anyone would understand the stats argument, it's you guys.

And that was with just 1 or 2 guys, right? 10% of a change based on 1 or 2 guys. Arkansas had 5 starters missing at one point or another over that 5 or 6 games stretch. At the very worst I think it's reasonable to say that the Arkansas defense LSU will face on Friday is an unknown quantity.

A battle would assume that it was contested. I won't argue that MSU looked bad, but they were outmatched.
That's why I say Arkansas' defense is an unknown. They've played 4 games as a full, healthy unit. 2 against cupcakes and 2 against shitty offenses from the SEC.
