He didn't take the opportunity seriously. Look at him while he was here and then in some selfies in his uniform at the Zona CC he's at and you can tell he got the picture. Has dropped weight and passes the eyeball test.
Intangibles are a tough thing to measure on a kid but Chavis made him a crown jewel and heir apparent to Beckwoth based on the recruiting he did at LB. Him spitting the bit at LSU has us looking at starting true freshman at MLB next year.
Which is ironic considering the guy that TAMU fired to hire Chief left him with only one scholarship LB headed into Spring Ball. Aggies fired the guy that left their roster like that, and gloat about the guy they hired, never realizing he was doing the same thing at the same position-which he is responsible for coaching-here that the old guy did there.

You pretty much saw the writing on the wall in the spring game when he was 3rd string getting less playing time than some walk ons.

It started from the first minute he stepped on campus. He didn't have a good work ethic and he even made it known in the athletic dept. He was home sick and those facts combined didn't sit well with the coaching staff. He was unhappy the second he stepped on campus
