If it is bad enough to get cancelled and is a state of emergency, I believe the Florida players and coaches should have the weekend off to take of their homes and families. Really don't think football will be their biggest focus or concern if it is as bad as some are implying it may be.

The cone, is not a representation of the eye.

I think we are probably saying the same thing but since I'm a FL fan you aren't happy about it.

The cone is the whole area of the possible project path of the eye but the cone is not the eye.

I'm unwilling to argue that any further because it would be ridiculous for anyone to think that the cone is the eye as was stated.

New Orleans and the whole state of Louisiana did not know how to handle a hurricane. Florida does.

The tornados in Tuscaloosa were a sudden and terrible disaster, but they hit directly on Tuscaloosa, not 100+ miles away.

The floods in South Carolina were again due to poor infrastructure and not knowing how to handle that kind of weather event.

Florida knows how to handle hurricanes people. It's not the first time a big storm is coming towards the state.

Yeah last I looked the Gainesville Sun said 4 inches of rain and 35 MPH gusts on Friday.

The horror....

Yeah they figured it out alright. They're playing in Miami at 8, just as the game was scheduled initially.
My goodness you're an idiot.

That's pretty convenient. They don't see a storm coming, they see an arse kicking. That is the only thing on their mind right now.

Then why the frick are classes canceled??

Please explain

That's why it's confusing UF won't cooperate on having a plan B in place! We all agree there is a good chance of cancellation... that can be avoided.

1. Logistics.
2. Evacuation Traffic and contraflow.
3. Emergency services redirected.
4. Gainesville IS in the nhc cone.
5. Just three days ago Florida was not expecting hurricane conditions at any point.
6. The storm track has trended westward.
7. It doesn't take several paragraphs to make a point.

Right, that's what we want to avoid...

pretty selfish IMO if you are worried about your saturday entertainment over the Gainseville residents if the storm is bad enough to have to cancel the game IMO

You are a crawfishing mofos, but stipulating that you now get it, the fact that the cone ends just outside of Gainesville, you should now realize that if the west projection is anywhere near correct, Gainesville is going to feel the full force of the storm, regardless of where the eye passes.

Moving the game to Sunday or Monday appears to be plan B

I understand you were fishing for that gotcha. Unfortunately, nobody can control the weather. They can control the game if it is in fact their intention to get it in, which is what they say they want. Whether you believe that or not is a different discussion.

If I had the choice to turn the hurricane east or have the game moved, I'd change the weather. As that impossible, we are left discussing the things that can be controlled.

I think i said it to the other guy, but if the its bad enough to get cancelled, I don't think that the game will be of major concern to the residents of florida in a disaster area. I live in New Orleans now and grew up in an area with hurricanes a lot now. THink about it, if a hurricane was headed to new orleans, wouldn't you want you time freed up to worry about your home and family? I know I would - thats why they will figure out if they need to cancel or not today.

Ok, take the word of a message board instead of a real link.

The University of Miami's rivalry game against Florida State is still on.

Miami athletic director Blake James said at this time no decision has been made to cancel or postpone the game.

It's getting silly.

It's not one or the other. Have a plan in place to have the gamed moved to a safe location AND allow the state's resources to be relieved for assisting the residents.
