Etling is better than Cam Newton. They're already making his bust for the hall of fame. Of course he is locked in as starter

He can run. Not quite the speed but knows when to run. Harris doesn't have the awareness to know when to run to create time and throw or run for a first down. Our Oline is banged up pretty bad that is a big concern going against yalls dline

Harris was a strange one. Bailed from the pocket immediately but still didn't scramble for positive yardage.

23 yards against a bad defense, and 1 TD (along with a fumble) against an FCS team isn't enough to convince me just yet.
Sean White seems like a good comparison here. He has deceptively good wheels and will pick up a first every time you leave him room. But he can't avoid a sack for shite and takes a ton. You blame that for Etlings bad rushing numbers, but White still has positive yards. He's on pace to finish around 300 rushing yards.
Y'all know your own QB better than I do, but based on the numbers he's going to have to prove himself. I guess we'll see. Even if you are right, Trevor Knight was on some Manziel or Nick Marshall level elusiveness last night. Even if Etling is more mobile in the pocket than I thought, 98% of QBs would have taken several more sacks than Knight did, and I highly doubt Etling is in that 2%.

Etling is more mobile than Harris.
Don't let his race fool you.

you make a good case and I have passed your words along to Les Miles. That said, "locked in" does not begin to describe Etling's hold on the quarterback job. He's so locked in, that the key has been thrown away. The person who locked him in and threw away the key has been beaten into a coma, which he will never come out of. The person who beat him was killed in his sleep by two assassins who were contracted by an anonymous source, speak no English, and know nothing of keys, locks or American football. They assume the killing was over an intellectual property dispute . So stupid.

From reading the responses ITT it sounds more like Etling just has better instincts and puts his legs to better use, not that he necessarily has "more" mobility.
If he keeps up his current pace he'll erase his bad stats from Purdue and end the season just on the positive side of career rushing yards.

As putrid as malzahns offensive attack is, lsu needs to play the qb who makes the best decisions and wont turn the ball over. I believe that is Etling without question.

That's a fair statement. He may not have Harris' pure athleticism, but he's more dangerous as a runner due to his better instincts and football IQ.

Etling's downfield vision and ability to quickly go through his progressions reminds me of Brees. He seems very accurate as well.

LSU fans, is Etling locked in as starter?
Because I really think y'all have a better shot in JHS with Harris.
And I think your best bet in the game is with Jeremy Johnson

Etling is LSU's starter going forward.

I think if u watch etling in the game u will see a lot of similarities to Flynn. Been real impressed with etlings pocket presence. As far as running I would say u are correct in comparing white with etling. I think if Gus used white a little differently your offense would be better. He's a better fit for pro sets imo. Gus should cater to the defense more imo. I thinks y'all are solid on Defense. From what I've seen

Etling has -75 career rushing yards
Harris has 370 with a solid average and 7 TD
Harris got yardage on designed runs. He doesn't hardly ever tuck and run on designed passes.
I should rephrase and say Etling is the better scrambler

Etling will continue his heisman campaign this week

He actually escapes pressure and runs very well.. sort of like Flynn did for LSU in 2007

Auburn struggles containing mobile QBs.
Then our chances are better with Etling.
I don't care what quality you use to measure a QB, our chances of winning any game, anywhere, are better with Etling than they are with Harris.

The problem lies not in his stats, but in you thinking that anything he did or didn't do at Purdue has any influencing factor or determination on what he is going to do or not do at LSU.
