We are on thin ice with our d-line. One or two injuries will be devastating for us so yes I'm a little worried. I'm more worried about how conservative we get on offense in the fourth quarter

To answer the OP, not really.
I have every bit of faith that our defense is the most talented defense in the country. I think it has every bit to do with the conservative nature of Miles. Against State, the majority of the second half we just sat back in coverage and Dak picked us apart on 5 yard hitch routes. I think when we get a decent lead Miles just thinks teams will try to force things they otherwise wouldn't. If you go back and watch the games, there isn't anything that is a major concern. Its players going for huge plays rather than making easy tackles, and its players not really caring.
Really only thing that concerns me is that we are an injury away on Dline and LB from having a small weak spot. But even our small weak spot would be better than most teams

Honestly failing to see the point there. On this exact date 1 year ago LSU defense was ranked #5 in 4th Q defense.
Today LSU is #115.

The only game where I saw a problem with out late game D was MSU. They picked us apart with short passes because their running game was I'm the gutter.
The Auburn game was pair away in the 4th and the starters were pulled.
The same with Syracuse. The final was a 10 point difference but the majority of the time the lead was 3 scores. Again, another time to let the back ups play.
I'm not really worried for those reasons.

On this date 1 year ago we had played (IIRC) Wisconsin, Sam Houston State, ULM & Miss State. Wisconsin and Miss State did all their scoring before the 4th quarter. So trying to compare playing 2 SEC teams and 3 P5 teams to last year is about as dumb as having practice for cheering.

the OP posts threads like this all the time pertaining to some metric singling out LSU. It's absolutely a troll. when an OP starts with "honest question" or something similar, it generally isn't

C'mon Sarge...the State game I'll give ya but I believe that was a seasoned vet taking what the defense was giving him and it damn near worked for a comeback.
IMO, no I am not worried yet about the 4th qtr defense only because in every game (with the exception of the last drive by state), we were in control of the game. We have yet to trail which is awesome. The Syracuse game was just sloppy. If you want to look back at it IRL, we had two penalties that went for a 14 point swing in back-to-back possessions. LF 87 yd td called back, ending up having to punt. Syracuse next possession, our DB doesnt get his head turned around on an endzone fade that the qb threw to the middle of the endzone instead of the corner...safety gets an easy pick but it was nullified by "pass interference" that was 10 yds from where the ball ended up. Was def pass interference but no way that guy was catching the ball. Also the flag on the LF run was illegal formation. Neither flag affected the outcome of the play but thus a 14 point swing commenced.
