Miles had lost the team. The season would have turned disasterous if he had stayed.

Miles should have been fired at the end of last season. Alleva and his management of the Miles Meltdown has made a mockery of a once proud program.

Coach O, really? No one wanted him as a head coach and now suddenly he is good enough to run LSU. The only thing he will run is this program into the ground, like Curley Hallman did in the 1990's.

This isn't hard. If you fire early in the season, hire a search firm, identify candidates and wait until you can interview them. Alleva couldn't even do this competently.

I love my school, but I sure as hell am pissed at how things are being run at the moment. It's a joke.

The real reason they fired Miles early was to eliminate the possibility of Miles saving his job.

Exactly. They didn't want a ground swell of fans, alum, donors stepping up to support Miles like last year. They didn't want to give the media weeks and weeks to report on what a great man Les Miles is, and why he shouldn't be fired, etc.

Alleva/Alexander screwed the pooch royally last season with how he drug that crap out and let the media run with it.

This year they made a quick, deliberate, and totally unexpected blow of guillotine and cut out Les.

With Miles, I think LSU would've lost to Ole Miss, Arkansas and Texas A&M. If Florida had been played on the scheduled week then I think either coach would've won that game. Again, that is what I think.

However, we all know that, without Miles, LSU set it's single game rushing record at home against Ole Miss, almost surpassed that record when they traveled to Arkansas and then did surpass it when they traveled to Texas A&M.

Strange that LSU didn't start setting single-game rushing records until they fired their "run oriented" coach. LSU needed life breathed into it's practices and games.

LSU should've cut bait with Miles last season.

BTW - beating A&M isn't a Miles trend, it's an LSU trend. Always has been and always will be.

Not that Miles was the best coach ever but his failure to find a job is largely related to his age.

He's still far better than O.

How can anyone look at our games this season and think Les did better in 2016 than O, et all after Les? Our losses at Wisconsin and Auburn were a direct result of playcalling and wasted time (management) on offense. Les' team would not have beaten Alabama and probably would have lost to Arkie and UF. Les' teams certainly would not have set LSU offensive records as we did versus Mizzou and Ole Miss.

I loved Les Miles as LSU's HC. But his refusal to keep his word (to Alleva in Nov, 2015) and open up our offense earned a firing. And said firing happened exactly when it should have.

Because Joe alleva couldn't hire Coach Captain Caveman that way.

He had to have beat the dredges of the SEC so he could act like he really had a search when he wanted the whole time

Lol Orgeron couldn't get a HC interview with a D3 team. I don't know how many teams he could even get a DC interview with.

Because they should have fired him at the end of the previous season. "If you need to do something eventually, it's best to do it immediately."

They probably didn't want another groundswell of support to save his job.

With Aleva it is not exactly what he did. Only his hairdresser knows for sure. I would hope he did. He had plenty of time. I would have. But, I dont make his money. As far as miles. When he advanced in age he became set in his ways. That happens all the time. He did it to himself. You dont give the finger to your bosses. Les you should have listened. Look what happens when you open the playbook. I know you saw it!
