if Les would have stayed the Bama game would have been 30-0 Arkansas would have probably beat us....I agree the way it was handled was dumb should have fired him last year like planned

Which would have been two things to push the AD to hire a better coach.

At the end of the day LSU won just enough to frick themselves.

LSU has the worst AD in the conference by far, but they also have a President who wants to cap coaches salaries. The sad part is that he is totally serious. That being said, our President is wholeheartedly apathetic about the athletic program and thinks it is beneath him. You combine those two (your unquestioned leaders) and it is a miracle that we are relevant in any sense. LSU has always been a sleeping giant and unique in many of its built in advantages. It is our legacy of incompetence at the top that has kept us mediocre for long periods of time. Mark Emmert woke it up for awhile but Louisiana State University just can't help themselves when it comes to its football program.

The real reason they fired Miles early was to eliminate the possibility of Miles saving his job.

They should have done it last year.

problem with Miles is that he was giving another chance as he vowed to change and expand the offense. it didn't happen, make the change asap and see what you have on staff.

Yeah what the hell were the LSU fans thinking firing him in the middle of the season like that?

Should have fired him November '15. Had to get rid of him in the case of the improbability that he would go on a run and save his job once again. The decision was correct. The subsequent coaching search was shite.

To quote Jeremy Foley, one of the latest in a long line of people to kick Joseph Alleva directly in the dick:

You lose recruits whenever you have a coaching change. Its what happens, a lot of recruits commit to the coach as much as the school.

We need to hire an OC immediately though.

Honestly, I think the top would have blown off, and the fan base would have shite a brick. It should have happened at the end of last year. Things were ugly after the Wisky loss, then AU heartbreaker...

I think it would have gotten REALLY ugly if they left him coaching.

Les would have beaten Fla on a trick play. Instead the Ogre lost it on a wrong way.

I thought it was foolhardy at the time. I kind of believe they were worried that he might luck up and end up beating Alabama and it would again be hard to fire him at the end of the season. Which he might have. Did you see how bad our offense was against them? Didn't Les' crappy offense score 16 against them in Tuscaloosa last year? And 13 against them two years ago? Both would have been enough for the win this year. Just saying.

Firing Miles was the right thing to do. He should have been fired last season though. But when Miles fielded the exact same offense that has struggled so much in the past, against Wisconsin, it was time to fire him. That was the biggest frick you to Alleva, and the fanbase.

Miles was unreasonably stubborn. Players started showing frustration with him. His firing mid-season gave LSU a chance to do a thorough coaching search to find the most qualified candidate for the job...
