We are going to run a 4-2-5 most of the night and have various blitz packages out of it.

We wont have DJ Welter sitting at MLB either.

Jesus Christ.............. no. Just no. The type of players Chavis brought in were severely undersized for a 3-4.

Maybe, for the NFL, but in College you can have those undersized, fast linebackers roaming the field.

Besides the undersized LBs we haven't had a player in the last 10 years that could've played NT in a 3-4.

eta: Not to mention we had a hard enough time putting 3 LBs on the field let alone 4.

Until you see us recruit an elite nose guard, you're kidding yourself.

Just looking at it up front, I'm not sure you guys have the meat for DL in a 3-4?

Who said this? 3-4 is not our base D considering we dont have the depth at Linebacker and our two DTs are the strength of out line. Our base formation is going to be the nickel. There might be some 3-4 packages but the Nickel, dime, and 4-3 cater more to our strengths.

LSU has players that could play in both defensive schemes in College, no doubt. But with the ability to recruit DLinemen from LA, make sense to stay 4-3.

LSU to be a lot better than last year. State to be worse. LSU to win.

Just stop already, man. There may be guys on the roster that fit the mold of what the LBs do in a 3-4 but we don't have the beef on the DL to put 3 big bodies up there.

LSU, like Bama, develops players for their scheme. If you do not think LSU could develop the same players to run a different scheme, oh well. Very few people come out of high school built as a 260 lb linebacker, they are developed into that. LSU could do the same thing if that is what would fit their scheme.

LSU has just as much talent year in and year out than bama.

I hope you don't honestly believe this. Go look at 2012 and 2013 (on defense in particular that year) and 2014

They'll be horrible. 0-11 is all but a foregone conclusion.

Maybe, but LSU hasn't had a space eater on the DL since maybe Brockers. You need a wide bodied guy at the nose and LSU simply hasn't had that type of frame on the roster. Gilmore is about the closest thing we have right now. I guess if I had to choose from this roster to build a 3-4 around I guess you could have Beckwith, Jones, Bower & Key at LB and then go Gilmore, LaCouture & Godchaux on the DL. I could sort of get down with that but we'd get our shite pushed in by Arkansas and Bama with that line up.

Had it been a LB he probably wouldn't have bounced off the ground. My mistake.
