Why is this only ever said of Vandy and Ole Miss in September?

People have been saying this about Vandy since their season last year. They won 9 games last year, 8 straight including their bowl game.

ETA: BTW, I know they're still Vandy, but they aren't the push over team that they usually are.

I also think an LSU team who is playing on the road against their first big opponent of the year might be more "jacked up" than a Georgia team who is playing their third top ten.

Georgia is out of the national championship hunt if they lose. they will be jacked up

Nope. We broke TCU's spirit and ruined their season, UGA simply lost.

does SC=TCU?
Clemson last year=Clemson this year?
Then there is that Open date school- they are still undefeated

It's certainly an advantage for them. But it's not that game breaking. I'm concerned about Georgia because they have a solid team, decent coaching, and the game is being played in Georgia.

I mean it's Georgia, of course I'm going to be nervous going into the game.

LSU's defense has not been tested the way they will be against UGA. TCU scored 27 against LSU, then was held to 10 by Texas Tech. Neither TCU nor AU are anywhere close to being the team UGA is. And, the game is in Athens. Advantage: UGA.

I'm not sure if Georgia being tested early has anything to do with this game. LSU's problem up to this point has been not being able to play hard a full 4 quarters. I don't think that will be the case. We very well may see LSU have to play from behind. I think the game is a toss up and a really close game. Tough test and UGA definitely has home field advantage and Mett grew up a UGA fan so inside he may be torn a little. It's easy to dismiss that fact but its still something he is probably thinking about.

below average wide receivers.

Say what you will about our secondary, front 7, OL, coaching, or Murray but everyone who shits on our WRs A) hasn't watched Georgia and or B) football doesn't come all that easy to them.

Just because Landry and OBJ are on the other side doesn't mean that the Georgia receiving corp is any less lethal.

But hurr durr their coach is retarded, defense worse than a big 12 unit, and their dog dies a lot. Who cares about their receivers? I DO GOD DAMMIT.

Conversely, Clemson scored 38 vs UGA and only 26 vs NC State.

See how that works?

I haven't watched enough games of UGA. Actual question could you give a breakdown on the starting WRs or some stats?

Edit: Also your avatar makes me laugh and smh at the same time. What a miserable game for us.

Absolutely. I'll do what I can buddy, others can help. We rotate a lot so I'll give the low down on a few of our guys.

Main threats

Michael Bennet, 82, Gutty WR, a lot like our old WR #16 Kirs Durham. Great hands, tore an ACL last year after being probably our best WR leading to Malcom Mitchell and Conley's ascendance

10 rec, 124 yds, long 32

Chris Conley, 31, May have as good or better than Bennett but also is athletic enough to be more than a possession guy. IMO is our best WR

10 rec, 142 yds, 1 TD, long 43

Justin Scott-Wesley, 86, Tall, rangy WR who is a track star and has football speed, not just track speed. Has pretty good hands and while is still a little raw can end up being a great here.

10 rec, 234 yds, 1 TD, long 85 yds

Rantavious Wooten, 17, Quick kid with questionable hands but can be a burner when he's turned on. Less consistent obviously but a threat nonetheless

2 rec, 46 yds, long 33

Rhett McGowan, 27, former walk on, decent hands, more of a filler if someone is hurt

2 rec, 35

Reggie Davis, 81, true freshman who just got on track last week with world class speed

2 rec, 134 yds, 1 TD, long 98 yds

Then our TEs are a big part of our offense. 88 Arthur Lynch is a 6'5 monster who can block and is clutch within. 20 yds. 87 Jay Rome is a stud but is also hurt so may see less of him

Lynch, 8 rec, 129 yds, 2 TDs, long 42

Finally our RBs aren't bad at catching, including Quayvon, but Marshall really excels here

What's to note is Murray distributes the ball around a LOT. We don't have a real primary guy which can be an advantage and a disadvantage. Sorry for the novel but I felt they deserved a little props

I was there and it was one of the few times I felt we were unstoppable. UT ruined that the next week but that was a game that few teams, even LSU, could win with the way Greene and the defense played

So, a reasonable person would be tempted to come to the conclusion that Texas Tech's defense is better than LSU's and NC State's is better than Georgia's... except we all know that's not how sports works.

The point is, UGA will score points against LSU - probably more than any team LSU has faced to date because they have more offensive weapons - far more - than any team LSU has faced. Should be a fun game to watch!

It's real easy to look at the ending numbers and make this statement if you didn't watch the games. TCU scored off of a kickoff return, and a drive that accumulated a whopping 5 yards (from a fumble).

That Same TCU team was without a starting QB when they played Texas Tech (now ranked in top 25). They held that team to ten points until the fourth quarter when they scored on one long pass, and some really shotty officiating at the end (yes I watched the game).

That isn't giving LSU a pass, but it's not as black and white as you are making it out. If your going to spit scores and numbers do all the research. That attempt was just downright lazy

Speaking of lazy, you didn't even read my entire post - did you?

Further, you make the assumption that I did not watch the games and you know what they say about assuming...

I'm not talking about how anybody "looks" or stats or any of the subjective arguments. I'm simply looking at the fact that UGA has played two opponents that many of us consider to be very good teams and they go into the LSU game with more experience at this point in the season.

Only the freshman have not been in big games. AJ, Ferguson, Barrow, Kwon Alexander, Debo Jones, Craig Loston, Mills, Jalen Collins, the entire O-line except Hawkins, the FB, the QB, the WRs, the RBs have all been in big games before. They played against Florida, Alabama, Texas A&M, and South Carolina last season. Experience is experience.
