Just saw this on ESPN

quote:

This will be the sixth time in the past 10 seasons that an LSU team has faced the Heisman winner in the year he took home the trophy.

Considering the SEC has dominated the award recently this isn't too surprising I guess.

Tebow in 07
Ingram in 09
Cam in 10
Manziel in 12
Henry in 15

No convincing me that either earned it. Especially Henry over McCaffrey.

Edit Johnny deserved it that year.

But I'm sure you would think LF deserved it if he would have won it over McCaffrey

Nope.

Edit:
LF is better than Henry without question and the fact that he wasn't even invited is an absolute joke. McCaffrey deserved the trophy though, because he was a far bigger reason for his team's success than anyone else on the ballot was for theirs.

Well at least LF was the better player than McCaffrey, and was the better player and had the better year than Henry.

Henry couldn't say he was the better player or had the better year. Heisman has become a joke that goes to the star player on the best team in a lot of years (See 2015). Henry was a great player, just nowhere near the best in the country.

Pretty much.

In the past 10 years Auburn has faced
Tebow in 07
Ingram in 09
Manziel in 12
Winston in 13
Henry in 15

Ole Miss got
Tebow in 07
Ingram in 09
Cam in 10
Manziel in 12
Henry in 15

How are you justifying that Manziel didn't earn in it in 2012? As an Auburn fan, it pains me to say it but his '12 season was ballpark 2010 Cam Newton

The best players make the most plays on the biggest stage. LF fumbled the Heisman when he did jack shite against Alabama. You can blame that on your oline all you want, but defensive backs were able to tackle LF with ease behind the line of scrimmage.

There is absolutely no way Leonard Fournette deserved the Heisman after that game.

In 2015, Henry shattered the SEC rushing record and led the nation in rushing yards and rushing TDs while churning through an SEC schedule, yet LF7 had a better season?

Give me a fricking break.

LF7 has no one to blame for his Heisman collapse but himself. 31 yards against Alabama, 91 yards against Arkansas, and 108 against Ole Miss in three consecutive LSU losses will do that to ya.

You know, I take it back. Just looked at that class of him, Ta'o and Klein. Yea he deserved it. I was wrong.

Great cliché, but anyone who understands football past a "HE HAD 29 YARDS PAWWWWWL" knows a lot more goes into making big plays in a big game than just "being the best player".

I think I remember reading that LF was hit behind the LOS on all but 2-3 carries that game. Bama is a great team. You have a ton o amazing players- they all don't have to be the best, it's okay.

Anyone with sense would take Fournette over Henry.

If they knew how to use Fournette properly, that number would likely be lower

He also played in 15 games something no other RB in the SEC has ever done. Fournette played in 12 because one got cancelled.

Henry also had a ton more carries. Fournette's YPC and YPG were vastly superior.

Not saying he had a bad year by any means, but it wasn't as good as Fournette's.

I'm not arguing he should have won Heisman. Just that he's better than Henry.

ETA: To go a step further, Henry wasn't even one of the 5 best at his position in 2015.

Fournette, Chubb, Zeke, Cook, McCaffrey were all better RB's (in no particular order)

At Heisman time, the stats were almost identical with Henry playing in one more game. LF with about 100 yards edge including receiving. So its not that far fetched.

Henry had games with 96, 52, 95, and 68 yards

Healthy Chubb was better than Henry.

Fournette, Zeke, Cook were all undoubtedly better players.

You could maybe argue McCaffrey - I think they're close but I'd give Caff the edge because he's more versatile.
