Back in the 50s, Tulane students kidnapped Mike the Tiger, dyed him green, and turned him loose in the French Quarter
Never heard anything close to that story. How about a little more info?

Tulanes admission requirements are too strict and they don't allow juco transfers.
they don't allow jucos, BUT any athlete that qualifies with the ncaa can get into tulane for sports. they don't have to be able to get into tulane like a regular student, which isn't that big of a deal anyway. it's hardly vandy or rice, much less stanford or duke.
they don't even have to be a real student anymore, they can just take classes and get a degree from the school of continuing studies which isn't really the same thing as tulane.
i know a guy who played basketball there and bragged about his media arts degree from the school of continuing studies.
tulane is a good school, but lets not get too carried away.
hell, they might allow jucos now.

Tulane students kidnapped Mike the Tiger, dyed him green, and turned him loose in the French Quarter. Updike was a child playing a man's game.

There is more. Tulane students also cut the lock on the cage and Mike roamed free on the LSU campus for a while in the 1980s.
LINK
In the 1950s, Mike was kidnapped by Tulane fans before a Tiger-Green Wave football game. He was found, and returned safely in New Orleans—he and his cage sprayed Tulane green.

In the mid-1980's, pranksters cut the locks on Mike IV's cage and freed him in the early-morning hours just days before the annual LSU-Tulane clash. Mike roamed free, playfully knocking down several small pine trees in the area, before being trapped in the Bernie Moore Track Stadium where veterinarian Dr. Sheldon Bivin used tranquilizer guns to capture and return the Bengal Tiger to his home.

Tight. Tulane sucks though, and so does this thread.
